Solubility of Benzo[a]pyrene and Organic Matter of Soil in Subcritical Water

open access: yesCroatica Chemica Acta, 2015
A dynamic subcritical water extraction method of benzo[a]pyrene from soils is under consideration. The optimum conditions for benzo[a]pyrene extraction from soil are described including the soil treatment by subcritical water at 250 °C and 100 atm for 30

Effects of benzo(e)pyrene and benzo(a)pyrene on P-glycoprotein-mediated transport in Caco-2 cell monolayer: a comparative approach.

open access: yes, 2008
The previous studies from our laboratory reported that benzo(a)pyrene (Bap) influenced efflux transport of rhodamine 123 (Rho-123) by induction of P-glycoprotein (P-gp) in Caco-2 cells.

Interspecific Differences in the Effects on Embryos Between Freshwater and Marine Fish Exposed to Water‐Accommodated Fractions Derived From Very‐Low Sulfur Fuel Oil

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the toxic effects of water‐accommodated fractions (WAFs) of very‐low sulfur fuel oil (VLSFO) on freshwater and marine fish embryos. Embryos of Japanese medaka (Oryzias latipes), Java medaka (Oryzias javanicus), and grass puffer (Takifugu alboplumbeus) were exposed to various concentrations of VLSFO‐WAF, and the effects on ...

Guidance for Calculating Benzo(a)pyrene Equivalents for Cancer Evaluations of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons [PDF]

open access: yes
This guidance presents rigorous methods that health assessors should use for evaluating PAH cancer risk as part of the PHA process. Health assessors should use their professional judgment, consulting with the ATSDR Associate Director of Science (ADS ...

Biodegradation of benzo(a)pyrene by a newly isolated Fusarium sp.

open access: yes, 2006
Benzo(a)pyrene (BaP) is a five-ring polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon produced by the incomplete combustion of organic materials. It is one of the priority pollutants listed by the US Environmental Protection Agency.

Identification and Validation of Biomarkers in Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps and Study of Their Associated Mechanisms

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Cell senescence (CS) and lipid metabolism (LM) disorders have been reported in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). However, the mechanism is still unclear. Methods Data were obtained from public databases; differential expression analysis and machine learning were performed to identify biomarkers and to understand the

Tumour-initiating activities on mouse skin of dihydrodiols derived from benzo[a]pyrene

open access: yes, 1976
Summary.-Three dihydrodiols that are metabolites of benzo[a]pyrene and benzo[a]-pyrene itself have been tested in a comparative experiment for their activities as initiators of tumours in mouse skin.

The Effects of Noise on the Juvenile Life Stage of Crustaceans: Behavioral, Cellular, and Molecular Responses in Procambarus clarkii

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Juvenile Procambarus clarkii exposed to noise exhibited behavioral changes, shifts in enzymatic activity, and altered expression of stress and immune genes. The findings highlight the sensitivity of invertebrate juveniles to anthropogenic acoustic pollution.

Domino Polymerization for the Synthesis of Reductively Degradable Poly(disulfide)s With Arbitrary Side‐Chain Structures

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 23, 1 June 2026.
We developed a novel domino polymerization to synthesize reductively degradable poly(disulfide)s with tunable side chains. A novel monomer bearing thiolactone and pyridyl disulfide groups reacts with various amines, enabling continuous ring‐opening and disulfide exchange.
