Frustrated Lewis Pairs and Metallic Ni Synergistically Enabled Low‐Temperature Hydrogenolysis of Lignin Models

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nickel–aluminum composite oxide (NiAlOx‐300) derived from NiAl layered double hydroxide showed high activity for hydrogenolysis of various lignin models. Especially, hydrogenolysis of benzyl phenyl ether could be efficiently proceeded at 20°C and 1 MPa H2.

Dietary Intervention of Benzoic Acid for Intestinal Health and Growth of Nursery Pigs

open access: yesAnimals
The objectives of this review are to investigate how benzoic acid can mitigate the negative effects of weaning stress, improve the intestinal microbiota, intestinal health, and growth of nursery pigs, determine the optimal dose level of benzoic acid for ...

2,3,4,5,6-Pentabromobenzoic Acid

open access: yesMolbank, 2022
Pentabromobenzoate is a useful fragment in organic synthesis and in coordination chemistry. Among known synthetic approaches to pentabromobenzoic acid (PBA), we have assessed and identified exhaustive bromination of benzoic acid by using 1.3 ...

Direct ortho-Arylation of ortho-Substituted Benzoic Acids: Overriding Pd-Catalyzed Protodecarboxylation

open access: yes, 2016
ortho-Arylation of ortho-substituted benzoic acids is a challenging process due to the tendency of the reaction products toward Pd-catalyzed protodecarboxylation.

Cobalt Single‐Atom Catalysts for Ultrafast Sulfamethoxazole Degradation: Unveiling the Chloride‐Ion‐Enhanced Formation of Co(IV)=O

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An atomically dispersed Co–N4 single‐atom catalyst rapidly activates peroxymonosulfate to remove the antibiotic sulfamethoxazole from water. Common ions have little impact, but chloride dramatically speeds degradation by promoting a high‐valent Co(IV) = O oxidant via in situ HOCl–catalyst electron transfer.

Single‐Atom Iron‐Catalyzed Oxidative Esterification: From Methylarenes to the Upcycling of Polystyrene and Lignin‐Derived Feedstocks

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Heterogeneous iron‐catalyzed environmentally benign and sustainable CH‐oxidative esterification methodology has been developed for the synthesis of esters. This challenging reaction has been achieved by the rational design of specific single atom iron‐based catalyst with Fe‐N4 active centers, which empowered the oxidative esterification of methyl and ...

Photodissociation dynamics of benzoic acid

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2010
The photodissociation of benzoic acid at 193 and 248 nm was investigated using multimass ion imaging techniques. Three dissociation channels were observed at 193 nm: (1) C6H5COOH→C6H5+COOH, (2) C6H5COOH→C6H5CO+OH, and (3) C6H5COOH→C6H6+CO2. Only channels, (2) and (3), were observed at 248 nm.

Asymmetrically Fluorinated Phenyl 4‐biphenylcarboxylate Motifs as a Design Principle for Enantiotropic Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The effect of the structural arrangement of DIO and its analogs on ferroelectric phases is explored. Consequently, it is found that an asymmetrically fluorinated phenyl 4‐biphenylcaroboxylate skeleton is one of the favorable structural motifs for the emergence of enantiotropic ferroelectric liquid crystal phases.

Quantitative Photo‐Reforming of Biomass to CO Spurred by In Situ Protonation of Carbon Dioxide Radical Anions

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A “two‐in‐one” photoreduction strategy enabled by electron‐rich yolk Cd species both remote from and adjacent to sulfur vacancies is delivered to be ultraselective for the reduction of O2 and •CO2− in situ formed on the shell Bi2S3 composition (hole) by water oxidation and oxidative C–C cleavage of various biomass organic acids, furnishing CO with > 99%
