Biomineral‐Inspired Organic/Inorganic Colloidal Liquid‐Crystalline Hybrids for Photoresponsive Adhesion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new class of photoresponsive liquid‐crystalline (LC) adhesives based on biomineral‐inspired organic/inorganic colloidal hybrids is reported. These colloidal LC materials are formed by hybridization of a hydroxyapatite nanorod with azobenzene‐based forklike molecules.

Palladium-Catalyzed Chemoselective Decarboxylative Ortho Acylation of Benzoic Acids with α‑Oxocarboxylic Acids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Palladium-catalyzed chemoselective decarboxylative cross coupling of benzoic acids with α-oxocarboxylic acids was realized via an arene sp2 C–H functionalization process. This work represents the first example of transition-metal-catalyzed cross-coupling

-iodination of aromatic carboxylic acids in aqueous media

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Research
A straightforward method has been developed for Pd(II) catalyzed ortho -iodination of benzoic acids in aqueous media. In this paper, mono-iodination of benzoic acids is reported in the presence of KI as the iodine source.

2-(Dibromomethyl)benzoic acid [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2011
In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(8)H(6)Br(2)O(2), the carboxyl groups are involved in pairs of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, which link the mol-ecules into inversion dimers.

The synthesis of 2-(5-Phenylthiazol-4-y1)benzoic acids [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
The four-step synthesis of 2-(5-phenylthiazol-4-yl)benzoic acid (2a), and its 2-amino derivatives (2b), required for testing as potential plant growth regulators, is described. The α-bromo ketone (9b) was conveniently prepared from commercially available

A Kinetic Study on Benzoic Acid Pungency and Sensory Attributes of Benzoic Acid [PDF]

open access: yesChemical Senses, 1999
Aqueous solutions of benzoic acid (BA) were evaluated by two methods: (i) sensory profile: a descriptive test of sensory attributes combined with semiquantitative analysis; and (ii) pungency intensity measures as a function of time: a computerized recording using specific software.

4-(Diphenylphosphinoyl)benzoic acid [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2008
Mol-ecules of the title compound, C(19)H(15)O(3)P, are connected by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the carboxylic acid OH group and the phosphinoyl O atom, forming chains running along the crystallographic b axis.

Engineering the Assembly Freedom of Donor–Acceptor Type Self‐Assembled Monolayers Toward Efficient and Stable Flexible Perovskite Photovoltaics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Assembly freedom engineering breaks the vertical alignment constraint of donor–acceptor self‐assembled monolayers, tuning their assembly freedom to achieve quasi‐random molecular orientation. This strategy simultaneously boosts interfacial charge transport and mechanical robustness, enabling high‐efficiency and mechanically stable flexible perovskite ...
