Compliant hydrogel cuff coating with real‐time pressure monitoring and antibiofilm capabilities for ventilator‐associated pneumonia prophylaxis

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
A soft‐compliant hydrogel cuff coating combines real‐time pressure monitoring with intrinsic antibacterial activity for prophylaxis of ventilator‐associated pneumonia. A flexible pressure‐sensing patch is embedded in the coating to enable wireless dynamic monitoring of endotracheal cuff pressure through Bluetooth.

Lewis‐Acidic Properties and Catalytic Behavior of Hydroboration‐ and Diolysis‐Derived NHC‐Stabilized Borenium Cations

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A series of thirteen (N‐heterocyclic carbene) NHC‐stabilized borenium cations is synthesized from NHC→BH3 complexes via hydroboration and condensation with diols. The novel compounds are fully characterized. Eight crystal structures are presented. Kinetic and NMR data show how the structural features translate to catalytic activity in hydrosilylation ...

The preparation of dual-functional hydrogel as the surface coating of plastics in biomedical applications

open access: yesMajalah Kulit, Karet, dan Plastik, 2019
Poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) (PEOXA) is among polymers that have been reported to show anti-adhesive (bio-passive) behavior in numerous biomaterial applications. This work aimed to develop dual-functional hydrogel coatings, with PEOXA as hydrophilic polymer

PHOTOINTERACTION OF BENZOPHENONE TRIPLET WITH LYSOZYME

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, 1989
AbstractThe quenching of the benzophenone triplet by lysozyme and its constituent amino acids in aqueous solutions have been studied. Native lysozyme quenches the benzophenone triplet with a high rate constant, 4 × 109M‐1s‐1. The quenching process takes place with production of significant amounts of free ketyl radicals, φketyl=0.56, but with a very ...

The Role of Iron‐Hyponitrite Intermediates in Biology and Insights From Synthetic Model Complexes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Despite the difference in active site architecture, NO reduction by different NOR enzymes is expected to be linked by a common intermediate: hyponitrite (N2O22−). However, experimentally, very little is known about the coordination chemistry of iron with hyponitrite and the expected Fe‐hyponitrite intermediates.

Azidophosphonamido Rhodium(I) and Iridium(I) Complexes: Synthesis, Properties, and Linkage Isomerism

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A family of azidophosphonamido ligands and their corresponding rhodium(I) and iridium(I) complexes were synthesized. The rich reaction chemistry of these species revealed unusual linkage isomerization processes and bonding motifs. M = Rh, Ir; Mes = 2,4,6‐Me3C6H2. ABSTRACT A series of azidophosphonamido rhodium(I) and iridium(I) complexes ([iPr2P(N3R)NR]

Cyclopropylamine‐Derived Distonic Iminium Radicals: Photoinduced Strategies in Chemo‐ and Stereo‐Selective Synthesis

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Cyclopropylamines have emerged as powerful photocatalytic building blocks. Upon light‐induced single‐electron oxidation, they undergo strain‐release ring opening to generate distonic iminium radicals that enable diverse transformations, including ring‐opening functionalization, formal [3 + 2] cycloadditions, radical cascades, and asymmetric bond ...
