A Cholesterol Analogue for Cell‐Surface Enzyme Display

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We report a non‐genetic strategy for bacterial cell surface enzyme immobilisation using cholesterol‐based artificial lipids containing Ni2+‐NTA binding groups that can integrate into biological membranes. The engineered cells can capture His‐tagged enzymes directly from cell lysates while preserving intracellular and surface activity, allowing for ...

Physico-chemical properties and catalytic activity of the sol-gel prepared Ce-ion doped LaMnO3 perovskites

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2019
Ce-doped LaMnO3 perovskite ceramics (La1−xCexMnO3) were synthesized by sol-gel based co-precipitation method and tested for the oxidation of benzyl alcohol using molecular oxygen. Benzyl alcohol conversion of ca.

Atroposelective Construction of Axially Chiral Tetraarylethenes Via NHC‐Catalyzed Desymmetrization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report the first NHC‐catalyzed atroposelective synthesis of axially chiral TAEs via oxidative desymmetrization of prochiral TAE dialdehydes. This catalytic strategy operates under mild conditions and accommodates a broad range of phenolic and nitrogen nucleophiles, delivering diverse axially chiral TAEs in good yields and up to 99% ee.

Enantioselective Synthesis of Axially Chiral Diaryl Ethers via Rhodium‐Catalyzed [2 + 2 + 2] Cycloaddition

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
An enantioselective rhodium‐catalyzed [2 + 2 + 2] cycloaddition enables the synthesis of axially chiral diaryl ethers. Carbonyl coordination ensures high reactivity and regioselectivity, affording products bearing up to four stereogenic axes with good enantio‐ and diastereoselectivity.

Effect of side-chain length in lignin model compound on MnO2 oxidation: comparison of oxidations between C6-C2- and C6-C1-type compounds

open access: yesJournal of Wood Science, 2021
Monomeric C6-C2-type lignin model compounds with a p-hydroxyphenyl (H), guaiacyl (G), syringyl (S), or p-ethylphenyl (E) nucleus (1-phenylethanol derivatives) were individually oxidized by MnO2 at a pH of 1.5 and room temperature.

Biocatalytic oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde via hydrogen transfer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Various types of biocatalysts like oxidases, alcohol dehydrogenases, and microbial cells were tested for the oxidation of benzyl alcohol. Oxidases in combination with molecular oxygen led to low conversion. Alcohol dehydrogenases and microbial cells were

Photocatalytic Synthesis of Pentafluorosulfanyl Ketones, Acetals, and BCP Motifs Utilizing SF6

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A photocatalytic single electron reduction strategy is reported for the activation and valorization of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), a potent greenhouse gas. Under mild conditions, SF6 is reduced to generate pentafluorosulfanyl (SF5) radicals, enabling direct access to pentafluorosulfanyl ketones, acetals, and BCP motifs.

Asymmetric Iron‐Catalyzed Vicinal C(sp3)─H Diamination of Carboxylic Acids

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
An iron‐catalyzed vicinal α,β‐C(sp3)─H diamination of readily available carboxylic acids furnishes chiral α,β‐diamino acids in a single pot with high regio‐, diastereo‐, and enantioselectivity (up to >20:1 dr and >99% ee). ABSTRACT The direct construction of chiral 1,2‐diamines through the stereoselective functionalization of two vicinal C(sp3)─H bonds

Poly(o-toluidine) Modified Platinum Electrode As an Electrocatalyst for Benzyl Alcohol Oxidation in Acid Media

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2016
The heterogeneous electrocatalytic behavior of poly (o-toluidine) modified platinum electrode (Pt/o-CH3) towards benzyl alcohol oxidation in acid medium is investigated using a cyclic voltammetry technique under different experimental conditions ...

Backbone‐Length‐Optimized Inhibitors Deliver Long‐Retention Selectivity in Area‐Selective ALD of VO2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Area‐selective VO2 ALD is found to depend critically on inhibitor backbone length, which governs physisorption, chemisorption stability, and packing efficiency in a coupled manner. An intermediate backbone‐length achieves the best long‐retention selectivity, establishing a chemically and geometrically grounded design principle for small‐molecule ...
