Efficient Persulphate Mediated Electrooxidation of Substituted Benzyl Alcohols in Biphasic Media
This paper discusses the electro oxidative conversion of p-methoxybenzylalcohol (p-MBA) to p-anisaldehyde which was effected at a graphite anode in a biphasic media using persulphate as the mediator.

Nitro Reduction‐Based RNA Control and Ultrafast Release
A chemical RNA caging–uncaging strategy based on nitro reduction is described. Nitroaryl groups introduced via acylation temporarily block the functions of diverse RNAs in vitro and in living cells. Treatment with a diboronic acid–bipyridine mixture rapidly reduces the nitro groups, releasing RNAs and restoring their activity.

Benzylation of Benzene and Toluene with Benzyl Alcohol
ρ-トルエンスルホン酸の存在でベンジルアルコールによるペンゼンおよびトルエンのペンジル化について調べた。 反応中にトルエンスルホン酸ベンジルおよびジペンジルエーテルが生成している。未完結の反応物は蒸留時に突然反応し, ポリペンジルとρ-トルエンスルホン酸とを生成する。これはスルホン酸ベンジルの存在に起因する。反応中にできるエステルおよびエーテルもスルホン酸の存在でベンジル化を行なう。ペンジル化は水の存在によって阻害される。相対速度および異性体組成はガスクロマトグラフィーで測定された。競争実験による相対反応性紛kT/kBは4.2であり, フェニルトリルメタンの異性体組成はオルト体42.0%, メタ体6.5%, パラ体51.5%であった。これらの値は塩化ペンジル ...
