Benzylamine Oxidase Activity in Rat Embryo and Placenta at Organogenesis
Enzyme, 1982Benzylamine oxidase, characterized by its sensitivity to semi-carbazide (1 X 10(-2) mol/l) inhibition and its insensitivity to deprenyl (4 X 10(-4) mol/l) inhibition, is present in rat placenta during days 10-15 of the gestation period and in the embryo at days 11-15.

Nature of the organic cofactor of pig plasma benzylamine oxidase
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure and Molecular Enzymology, 1990The identification of the organic cofactor of pig plasma benzylamine oxidase is described. Acid hydrolysis of the enzyme in argon in the presence of phenylhydrazine (6 h at 115 degrees C in 0.027 M sulphuric acid) allowed the isolation of an adduct which was purified by HPLC and identified as phenylhydrazone of pyridoxal by spectrophotometry ...

A safe homogenizing procedure for the study of tissue benzylamine oxidase and monoamine oxidase
Journal of Pharmacological Methods, 1981Abstract A homogenizing procedure using cryostat sections is described, which is safer in handling tissues than standard homogenizing methods, and gives relatively higher recovery of benzylamine oxidase activity in the high-speed supernatant of homogenates submitted to ultracentrifugation.

Because it has been suggested that an accumulation of false neurochemical transmitters plays a part in the cardiovascular and neurological complications of cirrhosis it appeared worthwhile to study the level of monoamine oxidase in the liver and platelets of cirrhotic patients.

Platelet monoamine oxidase and blood plasma benzylamine oxidase activity in cirrhotic patients.
Bollettino della Societa italiana di biologia sperimentale, 1982Plasma and platelet benzylamine oxidase activity was tested before and after portacaval shunt in patients with histologically-confirmed cirrhosis of the liver. The level of plasma benzylamine oxidase activity was always higher in cirrhotic patients than in control subjects and was unchanged by the surgical operation.

[Plasma benzylamine oxidase activity. I). Clinically healthy pediatric subjects].
Bollettino della Societa italiana di biologia sperimentale, 1981Plasma benzylamine oxidase has been determined in clinically healthy children. No differences exist between females and males. Inhibition by penicillamine and isoniazide shows a close dependency of enzymatic activity by the presence of copper and pyridoxal phosphate.

[Monoamine oxidase (XXXVI). Characteristics of benzylamine oxidase in the dog serum].
Nihon yakurigaku zasshi. Folia pharmacologica Japonica, 1976Enzymic properties of monoamine oxidase (MAO) in dog serum were studied and the following results were obtained. Some of enzymic properties of MAO in dog serum differed from that of mitochondrial MAO. When dog serum was fractionated by ammonium sulfate, proteins were concentrated in two fractions, such as 25 approximately 33% and 67 approximately 80 ...
