Adenoid ameloblastoma harbors beta-catenin mutations
Modern Pathology, 2022Adenoid ameloblastoma is a very rare benign epithelial odontogenic tumor characterized microscopically by epithelium resembling conventional ameloblastoma, with additional duct-like structures, epithelial whorls, and cribriform architecture. Dentinoid deposits, clusters of clear cells, and ghost-cell keratinization may also be present.

Beta Catenin in Prostate Cancer Apoptosis [PDF]
Abstract : During this funding period, we performed TRAIL-TZD-mediated apoptotic studies in androgen dependent (LNCaP and 22RV1) and androgen independent (DU145 and PC3) prostate cancer cells and the response was maximal in the LNCaP cells with 50 M TZD and 100ng/ml TRAIL combination.

P53 and Beta-Catenin in Colorectal Cancer Progression
Current Pharmaceutical Design, 2003Recently a possible cross talk about the relationship between p53 and beta-catenin has been suggested by the observation that colorectal cancers accumulating beta-catenin (as a result of APC mutations) also exhibit high frequency p53 mutations. Our aim was to evaluate the pattern of both the proteins and match these with the morphological changes in ...

IKK and (Beta)-Catenin in Breast Cancer [PDF]
Abstract : The wnt signaling pathway activates oncogene, beta-catenin. It associates with an APC, GSK-3b and axin complex which targets it for phosphorylation and ubiquitin-mediated degradation. NFkB transcription factor is associated with inhibitory IkBa.

Beta‐catenin and axis formation in planarians
BioEssays, 2009AbstractIn three recent articles it was shown that β‐catenin is crucial for the establishment and the maintenance of the overall polarity and especially for the character ‘posterior’ in planarians. If the transcription of the β‐catenin gene was silenced by RNA interference, the overall polarity is lost, and in regenerating fragments a posterior ...

Progranulin and beta‐catenin in psoriasis: An immunohistochemical study
Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2019AbstractBackground/ObjectivesProgranulin (PGRN) is a secreted glycoprotein that was investigated in many skin diseases. It plays an important role in inflammatory response and autophagy which could be mediated through Wnt/β‐catenin pathway. However, the role of PGRN in pathogenesis of psoriasis has not been clearly well‐known.

beta-catenin-cell adhesion and beyond (review)
International Journal of Oncology, 1997beta-catenin was originally identified as a cytosolic cell protein required for the correct function of the cadherin cell-cell adhesion complex. However, recent studies have identified the presence of intracellular pools of beta-catenin that are cadherin-independent and that beta-catenin is also involved in Wnt-1, src and Tcf-Lef mediated intracellular

Beta-catenin is not activated by downregulation of PTEN in osteoblasts
In Vitro Cellular & Developmental Biology - Animal, 2009Selective knockdown of phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) has been recently shown to increase life long accumulation of bone and its ability to increase osteoblast lifespan. In order to determine how loss of PTEN function affects osteoblast differentiation, we created cell lines with stable knockdown of PTEN expression using short hairpin RNA ...

Pharmacological inhibition of beta-catenin in hepatoblastoma cells
Pediatric Surgery International, 2012The proto-oncogene beta-catenin is linked to an abnormal activation of the Wnt/beta-catenin-pathway and shows mutations in 50-90 % of hepatoblastoma (HB). Corresponding, the recently published murine orthotopic HB model differs from the former subcutaneous model by nuclear beta-catenin distribution.

Abstract Abstract 1842 The introduction of novel chemotherapeutics and stem cell transplantation has resulted in an improved outlook for patients with multiple myeloma (MM) but the disease remains incurable emphasising the need for alternative therapeutic approaches.
