Transferrin (beta-globulin) polymorphism in Angora Goat

In this study transferrin polymorphism was investigated in Angora Goats. The seperation of transferrin types were carried out using the horizontal starch-gel electrophoresis. The frequencies of transferrin alleles were determined 0.0801+/-0.019. 0.195+/-0.018 and 0.004+/-0.003 for TfA, TfB and TfC, respectively.

POLYMORPHISM in the β-globulins of cattle, giving five phenotypes1,2, and in humans giving three phenotypes (Smithies, O., personal communication), has been described. The present communication concerns polymorphism in the β-globulins of the serum of sheep, giving to date eight phenotypes. The phenotypes are indicated diagrammatically in Fig. 1.
