Benign by design: A paradigm shift in cosmetic ingredient development

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
Benign by design strategies enable the creation of biodegradable cosmetic ingredients, reducing environmental persistence while maintaining the intended biological activity. This work compiles design rules and tools to guide the development of more sustainable molecules for the cosmetics industry.

Phenotypic Florfenicol Resistance in floR‐Harbouring Flavobacterium psychrophilum Isolates (CC‐ST90): A Case Study From Danish Freshwater Rainbow Trout Aquaculture

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Monitoring antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in fish pathogens is essential for supporting sustainable aquaculture. In this study, susceptibility testing and genome sequencing were used to characterize the AMR profile of seven Flavobacterium psychrophilum originating from Danish rainbow trout farms (2019–2022).

The Synergy Between a Silver‐Ruthenium Antimicrobial and Aminoglycosides Is Based on Severe Macromolecular Damage

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, EarlyView.
AGXX enhances aminoglycoside activity against multidrug‐resistant pathogens such as uropathogenic Escherichia coli by increasing reactive oxygen species, causing protein aggregation and DNA damage. This effect is reduced by oxygen limitation or antioxidants. Polyphosphate protects cells from oxidative damage.

Medication Exposure Definitions in Perinatal Pharmacoepidemiology: Implications for Pregnancy Studies

open access: yesPaediatric and Perinatal Epidemiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Exposure definitions in real‐world pregnancy studies vary across studies, data sources, treatments and outcomes, yet their impact on prevalence estimates remains unexamined. Objectives To identify the most used exposure definitions during the 1st trimester and evaluate their impact on prevalence estimates: Methods We reviewed 400 ...
