Investigating the parameters of the beta distribution
The Beta distribution takes on many different shapes and may be described by two shape parameters, α and β, that can be difficult to estimate. Maximum likelihood and method of moments estimation are possible, though method of moments is much more straightforward and easier to compute by hand.

Spot‐14 and Spot‐14R play distinct roles in regulating metabolism in brown and beige adipocytes. While both influence lipid and glucose pathways, Spot‐14 uniquely controls thermogenic gene expression. This dual regulation balances energy storage and heat production, highlighting potential therapeutic targets for obesity and metabolic disorders. Spot 14

Prediction distribution of generalized geometric series distribution and its different forms [PDF]
The prediction distribution of generalized geometric series distribution (GGSD) and of its truncated and size-biased forms is derived and studied under the non-informative and beta prior distributions.

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for half of the heart failure cases. It is characterised by microvascular dysfunction, associated with reduced pericyte coverage and diminished STAT3 expression in pericytes. Loss of STAT3 impairs pericyte adhesion, promotes senescence, and activates a pro‐fibrotic gene program.

Recovery rate is essential to the estimation of the portfolio’s loss and economic capital. Neglecting the randomness of the distribution of recovery rate may underestimate the risk.

Statistics of Superior Records
We study statistics of records in a sequence of random variables. These identical and independently distributed variables are drawn from the parent distribution rho.

Ion channel function of polycystin‐2/polycystin‐1 heteromer revealed by structure‐guided mutagenesis
Mutations in polycystin‐1 (PC1) or polycystin‐2 (PC2) cause autosomal‐dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). We generated a novel gain‐of‐function PC2/PC1 heteromeric ion channel by mutating pore‐blocking residues. Moreover, we demonstrated that PC2 will preferentially assemble with PC1 to form heteromeric complexes when PC1 is co‐expressed ...

Universal Conductance Distribution in the Quantum Size Regime
We study the conductance (g) distribution function of an ensemble of isolated conducting rings, with an Aharonov--Bohm flux. This is done in the discrete spectrum limit, i.e., when the inelastic rate, frequency and temperature are all smaller than the ...

Flexible bivariate beta distributions
AbstractBivariate beta distributions which can be used to model data sets exhibiting positive or negative correlation are introduced. Properties of these bivariate beta distributions and their applications in Bayesian analysis are discussed. Three methods for parameter estimation are presented.

Beta-hypergeometric probability distribution on symmetric matrices [PDF]
Some remarkable properties of the beta distribution are based on relations involving independence between beta random variables such that a parameter of one among them is the sum of the parameters of an other (see (1.1) et (1.2) below). Asci, Letac and Piccioni \cite{6} have used the real beta-hypergeometric distribution on $ \reel$ to give a general ...
