Betacyanins from Lampranthus sp. (aizoaceae)
Phytochemistry, 1969Abstract Isolation and characterization of four betacyanins from flowers of Lampranthus sp. is reported. These pigments have been shown to be hydroxycinnamoyl derivatives of betanin and isobetanin.

Betacyanins from fruits of Basella rubra
Phytochemistry, 1993Abstract Ion spray mass spectrometry and tandem mass spectrometry of the fresh juice from Basella rubra fruits revealed the presence of betanidin monoglucoside as the major betacyanin and its 4-coumaroyl and feruloyl derivatives as minor components.

Betacyanins from plants and cell cultures of Phytolacca americana
Phytochemistry, 1996Betacyanins from cell cultures of Phytolacca americana were characterized and compared with those of the stems and ripening fruits of the plant. Whereas in fruits prebetanin (betanin 6'-O-sulphate) and its isoform predominate, in the stem and cell cultures feruloylated derivatives occur as the major components.

Effect of continuous far red on betaxanthin and betacyanin synthesis
Phytochemistry, 1973Abstract Seedlings of Celosia plumosa under prolonged irradiation with far red light synthesize chlorophyll α and betaxanthin. Levulinic acid and 2,4-dinitrophenol, inhibitors of chlorophyll synthesis and cyclic photophosphorylation respectively, reduce betaxanthin synthesis. Pigment formation is also inhibited by actinomycin- D and puromycin, but

The ability of tetraalkylammonium salts to act as ion-pairing agents for betacyanins and mono- as well as bidecarboxylated betacyanins in HPLC on reversed phase is reported. The results indicate substantial and various influences of tetraalkylammonium salt addition to eluent on magnitude and direction of retention time changes of the analytes.

Betacyanin biosynthesis in the isolated hypocotyls bei Acetabularia mediterranea
Planta, 1976Isolated hypocotyls synthesize betacyanin after light exposure in Amaranthus caudatus L. Pigment synthesizing capacity is reduced in the hypocotyls with increased incubation of seedlings in dark after 24h. External feeding of precursors of betacyanin L-tyrosine and DOPA enhances pigment synthesis in the isolated hypocotyls to equal that of intact ...

The effect of heating conditions on losses and regeneration of betacyanins
Zeitschrift fr Lebensmittel-Untersuchung und -Forschung, 1985The losses of Betacyanins during heating at 90 °C and their regeneration after heating were investigated in red beet juice and solutions of pure betanin in different buffers. It was found that the regeneration of pigments during storage of heated samples is greater at 5 °C than at 20 °C.
