Spread of bovine herpesvirus type 5 (BHV-5) in the rabbit brain after intranasal inoculation [PDF]
Following intranasal inoculation of wild-type BHV-5 in rabbits, we studied the sequential transneuronal passage of the virus in the CNS by immunocytochemistry, histopathology, and virus isolation. At 4 and 6 days postinfection (d.p.i.), rabbits had no or mild neurological signs, and virus was isolated only from the olfactory bulbs.

BackgroundBioprosthetic heart valves (BHVs) are less thrombogenic than mechanical prostheses; however, BHV thrombosis has been proposed as a risk factor for premature BHV degeneration.ObjectivesWe aimed to explore whether fibrin deposition on bovine ...

Investigations of presence of antibodies against bovine herpesvirus-1 in blood serum of calves prior to colostrum diet [PDF]
The paper presents the results of investigations of the presence of the bovine herpesvirus-1 (BHV-1) in samples of blood serum from 106 cows and 107 of their calves (one cow had twins).

Production and characterization of monoclonal antibodies to a Brazilian bovine herpesvirus type 5
Antigens of a bovine herpesvirus type 5 (BHV-5), isolated from a cow with a neurological infection in Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil, were used to immunize BALB/c mice to produce monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). Eleven hybridomas secreting mAbs directed at

BHV-1 vaccine induces cross-protection against BHV-5 disease in cattle
Protection against BHV-5 disease induced by inactivated BHV-1 or BHV-5 based vaccines was analysed. Two groups of calves were subcutaneously immunized with an inactivated BHV-1 or BHV-5 based vaccine. A third group was not vaccinated and used as control.

GENETIC DETECTION AND PATHOLOGICAL FINDING OF BVDV AND BHV-1 IN CAMEL CALVES [PDF]
The objectives of this study are directed to employ multiplex PCR assay and some virological techniques for detection of bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) and bovine herps virus-1 (BHV-1) in clinical samples with clarification of their pathological ...
