Anti-inflammatory Bifidobacterium strains prevent dextran sodium sulfate induced colitis and associated gut microbial dysbiosis in mice

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2020
Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis are common inflammatory conditions associated with Inflammatory bowel disease. Owing to the importance of diet based approaches for the prevention of inflammatory gut conditions, the present study was aimed to screen the ...

Secondary Bile Acids Modified by Odoribacter Splanchnicus Alleviate Colitis by Suppressing Neutrophil Extracellular Trap Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In ulcerative colitis, the loss of Odoribacter splanchnicus disrupts a microbiota‐metabolite‐neutrophil axis. Restoring this bacterium boosts lithocholic acid, which suppress neutrophil extracellular trap formation and eases colonic inflammation.

Bile resistance mechanisms in Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2013
Probiotics are live microorganisms which when administered in adequate amounts confer a health benefit on the host. Most of the probiotic bacteria currently available in the market belong to the genera Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, and specific health-promoting activities, such as treatment of diarrhea or amelioration of gastrointestinal ...

Gut Colonization Mechanisms of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium: An Argument for Personalized Designs.

open access: yesAnnual Review of Food Science and Technology, 2020
Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium spp. are best understood for their applications as probiotics, which are often transient, but as commensals it is probable that stable colonization in the gut is important for their beneficial roles.

Faecalibaculum rodentium Alleviates Ionizing Radiation‐Induced Damage in Mice by Improving Intestinal Integrity and Hematopoiesis via Its Metabolite Butyrate

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The model shows the probiotics screening and underlying mechanisms of F. rodentiumn in alleviating IR‐induced tissue injury. Stress‐induced STAT3 mitochondria localization decreases F. rodentium abundance and butyrate concentration. Supplementation of F.
