The Epstein-Barr Virus BILF1 Gene Encodes a G Protein-Coupled Receptor That Inhibits Phosphorylation of RNA-Dependent Protein Kinase [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 2005
Epstein-Barr vires (EBV) infection is associated with many lymphoproliferative diseases, such as infectious mononucleosis and Burkitt's lymphoma. Consequently, EBV is one of the most extensively studied herpesvirases.

Molecular Properties and Therapeutic Targeting of the EBV-Encoded Receptor BILF1 [PDF]

open access: yesCancers, 2021
The γ-herpesvirus Epstein–Barr Virus (EBV) establishes lifelong infections in approximately 90% of adults worldwide. Up to 1,000,000 people yearly are estimated to suffer from health conditions attributed to the infection with this virus, such as nasopharyngeal and gastric carcinomas as well as several forms of B, T and NK cell lymphoma.

Structural basis for the constitutive activity and immunomodulatory properties of the Epstein-Barr virus-encoded G protein-coupled receptor BILF1 [PDF]

open access: yesImmunity, 2021
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) encodes a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) termed BILF1 that is essential for EBV-mediated immunosuppression and oncogenesis. BILF1 couples with inhibitory G protein (Gi), the major intracellular signaling effector for human chemokine receptors, and exhibits constitutive signaling activity; the ligand(s) for BILF1 are unknown.

EBV lytic proteins BZLF1 and BILF1 inhibit the expression of major histocompatibility complex in Raji cells [PDF]

open access: yesJichu yixue yu linchuang, 2023
Objective To investigate whether BZLF1 and BILF1 can inhibit the expression of major histocompatibility complex(MHC)molecules in Raji cells during Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) lytic cycle.

Human Herpesviridae Methods of Natural Killer Cell Evasion [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Virology, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
Human herpesviruses cause diseases of considerable morbidity and mortality, ranging from encephalitis to hematologic malignancies. As evidence emerges about the role of innate immunity and natural killer (NK) cells in the control of herpesvirus infection,

Cryo-EM structure of G-protein-coupled receptor GPR17 in complex with inhibitory G protein. [PDF]

open access: yesMedComm (2020), 2022
GPR17 is a class A orphan G protein‐coupled receptor. The 3.02 Å resolution structure elucidates the activated GPR17 in complex with the Gαi, Gβ, Gγ, and scFv16 in the ligand‐free state. The ECL2 of GPR17 occupies the orthosteric binding pocket to promote its self‐activation. Meanwhile, the residues D350 and E318 of Gαi form two salt bridges with K3318.
