Bimolecular binding rates for pairs of spherical molecules with small binding sites [PDF]
Bimolecular binding rate constants are often used to describe the association of large molecules, such as proteins. In this paper, we analyze a model for such binding rates that includes the fact that pairs of molecules can bind only in certain orientations.

Direct measurement of the exciton binding energy and effective masses for charge carriers in organic–inorganic tri-halide perovskites [PDF]
Solar cells based on the organic–inorganic tri-halide perovskite family of materials have shown significant progress recently, offering the prospect of low-cost solar energy from devices that are very simple to process.

Taurine promotes glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion in enteroendocrine L cells
Taurine, a sulfur‐containing amino acid, is likely taken up by enteroendocrine L cells via the taurine transporter. This process increases the levels of cytosolic ATP. The increase in intracellular Ca2+ concentrations and glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion through membrane depolarization is caused by the closure of ATP‐sensitive potassium channels ...

Binding of the Bacillus subtilis LexA protein to the SOS operator [PDF]
The Bacillus subtilis LexA protein represses the SOS response to DNA damage by binding as a dimer to the consensus operator sequence 5′-CGAACN(4)GTTCG-3′.

Multisensory Perception as an Associative Learning Process
Suppose that you are at a live jazz show. The drummer begins a solo. You see the cymbal jolt and you hear the clang. But in addition seeing the cymbal jolt and hearing the clang, you are also aware that the jolt and the clang are part of the same event ...

Optimal quadratic binding for relational reasoning in vector symbolic neural architectures [PDF]
Binding operation is fundamental to many cognitive processes, such as cognitive map formation, relational reasoning, and language comprehension. In these processes, two different modalities, such as location and objects, events and their contextual cues, and words and their roles, need to be bound together, but little is known about the underlying ...

Robust transcriptome-wide discovery of RNA binding protein binding sites with enhanced CLIP (eCLIP)
As RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) play essential roles in cellular physiology by interacting with target RNA molecules, binding site identification by UV crosslinking and immunoprecipitation (CLIP) of ribonucleoprotein complexes is critical to understanding
