Methylation and bio-accessibility assessment of arsenate in crickets (Gryllus bimaculatus)

Grain, vegetable, and fruit samples were collected from Xi'an City in Northwest China and analyzed for the characteristics, bio-accessibility, and dietary exposure of 22 phthalic acid esters (PAEs). All the studied PAEs were ubiquitously detected, except for diethyl phthalate in vegetables and fruits.

AbstractBACKGROUND: Vegetable oils are used as environmentally friendly and cost‐efficient amendments for the treatment of contaminated soils, primarily as solvents for the mobilization of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). In the present study, the efficacies of food‐grade and of waste oils, i.e.

Antimony (Sb) toxicity is a serious concern due to its harmful effects on humans and plants. Biochar (BC) has become a popular amendment for remediating soils polluted with metals and metalloids. However, the exact interaction mechanism between BC, and microbes to remediate Sb-polluted soils remains unclear.

The ultrasonically processed Eugenol (EU) and Carvacrol (CAR) nanoemulsions (NE) were successfully optimized via response surface methodology (RSM) to achieve broad spectrum antimicrobial efficacy. These NE were prepared using 2 % (w/w) purity gum ultra (i.e., succinylated starch), 10 % (v/v) oil phase, 80 % (800 W) sonication power, and 10 min of ...

Bioavailability and bio-accessibility of arsenic for ecological and human health risk assessment
2012Arsenic (As) contamination is currently reported in over 70 countries worldwide. This overview of As contamination links its presence in groundwater to human exposure including its bioaccessibility from ecological and human health perspectives. Arsenic content in food crops grown in As-contaminated areas, human health eff ects due to consumption of As ...
