Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Evaluation of antimicrobial potential of free gallic acid and its polyvinyl-based nano-formulation

open access: yesScientific Reports
This study explores the antimicrobial potential of gallic acid (GA) and gallic acid loaded with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) nanocarriers as a good source of phenolic acids against various gram-positive bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus and ...

Invertebrate Trehalose-6-Phosphate Synthase Gene: Genetic Architecture, Biochemistry, Physiological Function, and Potential Applications

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2018
The non-reducing disaccharide trehalose is widely distributed among various organisms. It plays a crucial role as an instant source of energy, being the major blood sugar in insects. In addition, it helps countering abiotic stresses.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Statistical Procedures for Finding Distribution Fits over Datasets with Applications in Biochemistry [PDF]

open access: yesBioautomation, 2009
A common problem in statistics is finding a distribution that fits to a certain dataset. Many theoretical distributions have been developed to give a good description of the empirical observations, and consequently, theory offers a variety of algorithms ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Performance of immobilized bacterial alpha-amylases in methyltriethoxsilane / tetraetoxysilane sol-gel matrices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The large number of studies related to the field of biomolecules encapsulation in sol-gel hosts clearly indicates that this approach can be considered as a powerful alternative to traditional encapsulation procedures involving biopolymer hosts.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Characterization of thermophilic β-Glucosidase of rhizospheric bacterial strain (LSKB15) isolated from Cholistan Desert, Pakistan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Fifty thermophilic bacterial strains isolated from rhizospheric soil of Cholistan desert, Pakistan, and designated as LSKB01-LSKB50 were screened for β-glucosidase gene (bgl) belonging to glycoside hydrolase family 1 (GH 1) using PCR technique ...
