Evaluation of integrated sludge worm and catfish farming with biofloc system

open access: yesJurnal Akuakultur Indonesia, 2015
ABSTRACTCurrently, supply of sludge worm (Tubifex sp.) merely came from wild, so that it could not meet demand for fish hatchery. Additionally, harvest from the wild did not have a quality assurance, due to the possibility of sludge worm becoming an agent of disease.

The Fragmented Landscape of Shrimp Life Cycle Assessments: Uncovering Methodological Dependence and Analytical Blind Spots

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 18, Issue 2, March 2026.
Reported environmental impacts of shrimp aquaculture from life cycle assessments (LCAs) vary by over fiftyfold. These discrepancies stem from methodological inconsistencies, which often outweigh actual differences in farming practices. Furthermore, areas of environmental concern including land use change, biodiversity, and toxicity impacts are excluded

Effect of Periodic Fasting on Growth and Feed Efficiency in Giant Freshwater Prawn (Macrobrachium Rosenbergii, De Man 1879) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
There are obstacles in the aquaculture business that is still often facedbyfarmers, one of the challengesisthe high price of commercial feed. Feed as an energy source for growth is a reasonably high-cost component in production that reaches 40-89 %.

Adaptation of Wild Asian Seabass (Lates calcarifer) to Artificial Feed in Cage Culture: A Case Study

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the adaptation strategy of wild Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) to artificial feed in an open floating cage over a period of 360 days. A total of 1800 wild seabass with an initial length of 19.91 ± 0.26 cm and a weight of 72.85 ± 3.94 g was stocked at a density of 15 fish per m3 in 60 m3 cages and subjected to two ...

Comparative analysis of dietary spirulina, krill meal, and corn gluten meal on shrimp performance and coloration

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract This study investigates the effects of incorporating Spirulina, krill meal, and corn gluten meal as dietary additives on the growth performance and body coloration of shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). Experimental diets containing varying percentages of Spirulina (1% and 3%), krill meal (2% and 5%), and corn gluten meal (3% and 6%) were ...

Integrated cultivation of sea asparagus, celery, and Southern black drum in saline clear waters and biofloc‐based aquaponics

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 118, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Abstract Aquaponics is an alternative agricultural practice that combines aquaculture with hydroponics. It increases productivity while treating macronutrient loads on effluents. Yet, little information is available on productivity of commercial aquaponic models using saline waters, especially with biofloc technology (BFT) systems, which are ...
