Floral resource‐mediated multilayer networks: structure and pollinators' roles

open access: yesOikos, Volume 2026, Issue 8, August 2026.
Resource availability shapes interactions among free‐living species, particularly in plant–pollinator mutualisms, where the composition of floral resource types influences pollinator foraging. Bees, known for utilizing a broad array of floral resources, play a crucial role in these dynamics. However, how the structure of interaction networks vary among

Phylogenetics of Clusia sect. Criuva (Clusiaceae) unveils a new species, reinstates an old name and clarifies sectional circumscription

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract Clusia sect. Criuva has long been a taxonomic catch‐all, particularly in the final decades of the 20th century, when misapplications conflated eastern Brazilian taxa with species from the Guiana Shield. We combine herbarium‐based genome skimming, targeted fieldwork, and critical examination of historical literature and types to reassess ...

Revisiting the nomenclature of Carludovica microcephala, type species of Dicranopygium (Cyclanthaceae)

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract The name Carludovica microcephala, basionym of the type species of Dicranopygium (Cyclanthaceae), has long been attributed to J.D. Hooker (1892), based on plants cultivated at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. A reassessment of nineteenth‐century horticultural literature shows that the name had already been validly published 35 years earlier, in

Identifying climatic refugia: Wet and complex habitats act as buffer for birds during severe droughts

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 8, August 2026.
Wet habitats and complex vegetation, therefore, are critical for providing stable microsites and water resources, underscoring the need to preserve and enhance the resilience of these habitats to support biodiversity during extreme events. Our study provides valuable insights for conservation strategies that should focus on identifying refugia ...

Reorganization without disruption: How fire‐driven spatiotemporal changes in floral resource landscapes influence plant–bee interaction networks

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 8, August 2026.
Contrary to fire suppression policies that promote ecological homogenization, we suggest that patchy prescribed fires could be used to enhance spatiotemporal diversity in the Cerrado by promoting fine‐scale heterogeneity in floral resources and resource‐mediated plant–bee interactions.
