Elastomeric 3D‐Printed Microenvironments Enable Nanonewton Force Measurements in Healthy and Diseased Human Pluripotent Stem Cell‐Derived Neuroepithelial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We present elastomeric three‐dimensional (3D) microstructures fabricated via two‐photon polymerization (2PP) and post‐processed through wet etching, for quantifying nanonewton (nN)‐scale forces applied by healthy and diseased neural cells. The mechanically characterized free‐standing beam architectures enable measurement of traction forces of ...

Interfacial Failure and Self‐Healing in Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Dynamic interfacial self‐healing offers an adaptive route to mitigate coupled mechanical, chemical, and electrochemical degradation in solid‐state batteries. This review connects evolving interfacial failure mechanisms with physical‐flow, chemical‐restoration, stimuli‐responsive, and electric‐field‐assisted repair strategies, highlighting targeted self‐

Toward Pore‐Engineered 3D‐Printed Materials for Sorption Water Harvesting, Interfacial Evaporation, and Radiative Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Water harvesting, radiative cooling, and interfacial solar evaporation are fundamentally governed by coupled heat, mass, and light transport processes. These processes are mediated by pore architecture, including pore size, connectivity, and hierarchical organization.

Bottom‐Up Engineering of a Human Neuromuscular System for Modeling Activity‐Induced Remodeling, Metabolic Stress, and Endothelial‐Modulated Excitability

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Using a bottom‐up approach, we engineered a human neuromuscular microchip to investigate distinct adaptive responses to neural stimulation and metabolic stress. Further integration of endothelial cells revealed their critical role in modulating neuromuscular excitability, establishing a comprehensive neurovascular‐muscular model.

Biological Age Acceleration and Motoric Cognitive Risk Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, 2023
ObjectiveMotoric cognitive risk (MCR) syndrome, a predementia syndrome characterized by slow gait and subjective cognitive concerns, is associated with multiple age‐related risk factors. We hypothesized that MCR is associated with biological age acceleration.

Periodontitis and Accelerated Biological Aging: A Geroscience Approach

Journal of Dental Research, 2021
As the whole world is epidemically aging, the burden of periodontitis and tooth loss is becoming a major health concern. Growing meta-epidemiological data implicate chronic systemic inflammation/infection due to periodontitis as an independent risk factor for aging-related diseases and mortality.
