KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

The physical complications of Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) have been understood as an accelerated ageing process (Morley, 2008). Do people with T1DM also experience accelerated cognitive and brain ageing?

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Musculoskeletal system in the old age and the demand for healthy ageing biomarkers
Population ageing has emerged as a major demographic trend worldwide due to improved health and longevity. This global ageing phenomenon will have a major impact on health-care systems worldwide due to increased morbidity and greater needs for ...

Social bonds decrease epigenetic age in male bottlenose dolphins
Ageing is a universal process characterised by the deterioration of functional traits over an individual’s lifespan. Differing degrees of age-related decline between individuals of the same chronological age suggest varying rates of ageing.

RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

The Application of a Statistical Model Investigating Reactive Oxygen Species in Premature Ageing Syndromes [PDF]
The premature ageing syndromes Hutchison-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS) and Restrictive Dermopathy (RD) are rare genetic disorders that result in greatly accelerated ageing. RD is neonatal fatal, whereas children suffering from HGPS age approximately 8

Biologically informed deep learning for explainable epigenetic clocks
Ageing is often characterised by progressive accumulation of damage, and it is one of the most important risk factors for chronic disease development.
