A comparative study on population status, nesting strategies, and conservation of two bee-eater species in China

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Conservation
Among China’s bee-eaters (Meropidae), the blue-throated bee-eater (Merops viridis) and the blue-tailed bee-eater (M. philippinus) are both widely distributed and listed as second-class nationally protected species.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Deciphering mycobiota and its functional dynamics in root hairs of Rhododendron campanulatum D. Don through Next-gen sequencing

open access: yesScientific Reports
The Himalayas provide unique opportunities for the extension of shrubs beyond the upper limit of the tree. However, little is known about the limitation of the biotic factors belowground of shrub growth at these cruising altitudes.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Co-application of biochar and melatonin enhances rice resilience to combined lead and microplastics stress via modulating antioxidant defense, hormonal regulation, gene expression, and soil quality

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology
Background Microplastics (MPs) pollution is becoming a serious challenge and poses ecological risks. MPs are known to interact with heavy metals, such as lead (Pb), adversely impacting plant growth.

Comparative Study of Hirudins and Encoding Genes in Hirudo nipponia and Hirudo tianjinensis

open access: yesBiology
This study systematically compared the genetic characteristics and functional activities of hirudins and their encoding genes between Hirudo nipponia (Hnip1–3) and Hirudo tianjinensis (Htia1–3) through bioinformatics analysis, recombinant protein ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Characteristics of Floral Volatiles and Their Effects on Attracting Pollinating Insects in Three Bidens Species with Sympatric Distribution

open access: yesBiology
The transition from outcrossing to self-pollination is an evolutionary process in angiosperms. However, the changes in floral volatile composition during this process and their impacts on the behavior of pollinators are poorly understood. Therefore, this
