We report a new thiolate‐reactive α,α‐gem‐dibromo lactam warhead that activates transcription factor Nrf2 and demonstrates anti‐inflammatory activities, which have implications in cancer, neurodegeneration, and cardiovascular diseases. RNA‐seq illuminated detailed transcriptional profiles, and chemical reactions with cysteine‐containing compounds ...

A Perspective on the Applications of Triphasic Gas Storage in Electrochemical Systems
Gas storage in microporous materials positioned locally at an electrode or electrocatalyst surface enhances electrochemical processes. Abstract Microporous materials store gases under dry conditions (e.g., hydrogen or oxygen via physisorption), but in some cases microporous materials also show triphasic (e.g., in a solid|gas|liquid system) gas storage ...

Targeting the PDK1/c‐Myc/SOX10 Signaling in Oligodendrocytes Alleviates Neuropathic Pain
This work reveals that oligodendrocyte homeostasis, mediated by PDK1, is a critical determinant of neuropathic pain (NPP) pathogenesis. Disruption of PDK1 in oligodendrocytes impairs SOX10‐dependent myelination programs through c‐Myc accumulation, leading to disrupted myelination and the pathophysiology of NPP.

N2 fixation in eddies of the eastern tropical South Pacific Ocean [PDF]
Mesoscale eddies play a major role in controlling ocean biogeochemistry. By impacting nutrient availability and water column ventilation, they are of critical importance for oceanic primary production. In the eastern tropical South Pacific Ocean off Peru,

Cold seep nitrogen fixation and its potential relationship with sulfur cycling
Dinitrogen (N2) fixation is a crucial source of bioavailable nitrogen in carbon-dominated cold seep systems. Previous studies have shown that diazotrophy is not necessarily dependent on sulfate-dependent anaerobic oxidation of methane for energy, and ...

Engineering Nitrogen Fixation Activity in an Oxygenic Phototroph
Biological nitrogen fixation is catalyzed by nitrogenase, a complex metalloenzyme found only in prokaryotes. N2 fixation is energetically highly expensive, and an energy-generating process such as photosynthesis can meet the energy demand of N2 fixation.

Nitrosyl heme emerges as an extracellular nitrodilator that dilates arteries without crossing the cell membrane. Instead, heme‐NO mobilizes NO moieties from a preformed intracellular NO store within vascular smooth muscle, providing both functional and chemical evidence for the NANOS model, revealing a previously unrecognized mechanism of arterial ...

The physiological-ecology of the cyanobacterium Microcoleus [PDF]
A study was carried out to determine how widespread N(_2) fixation is in the cyanobacterium Microcoleus, both in the laboratory and in the field. The research was extended to compare the influence of environmental variables on both Ng fixing and non ...

Phosphorus Use Efficiency for N2 Fixation in the Rhizobial Symbiosis with Legumes
Symbiotic nitrogen fixation (SNF) by legumes may provide an ecologically acceptable complement or substitute for mineral nitrogen fertilizers that farmers try to minimize for economic limitation and environment sake. However, phosphorus (P) deficiency is
