Influence of biostimulants on phenolic content in broccoli heads directly after harvest and after storage

open access: yesFolia Horticulturae, 2017
Biostimulants are commonly used in horticulture, primarily to increase yield quantity and quality, as well as plant tolerance to stress. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of amino acid-based biostimulants and amino acids in combination

A Systematic Approach to Field Testing of Biological Products for Horticulture Is Required to Improve Food Security

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Food security challenges require immediate action to increase food production. Many biological products derived from plant, animal or microbial sources claim they sustainably increase yield, but there are concerns about biosecurity to be investigated before their introduction to the field.

2‐line Ferrihydrite Enhance Microbial Synthesis of Plant Biostimulants in Composted Biosolid by Regulating Phyla Pseudomonadota and Actinomycetota

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 9, 13 February 2026.
This study explores how iron and manganese oxides transform sewage sludge into plant biostimulants during composting. Non‐targeted identification reveals the main species of plant biostimulants. Metagenomic analysis reveals that 2‐line ferrihydrite specifically enriches microbial genes for biosynthesis, boosting plant‐growth promoters.

Towards Functional Fertilisers: Feed Composition Shapes Microbial Community Structure and Viability in Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) Frass

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 28, Issue 2, February 2026.
Frass derived from black soldier fly larvae reared on various industrial side streams was investigated in both untreated and hygienised (1 h at 70°C) condition. Hygienisation efficacy was evaluated by determination of viable microbial counts, using both selective and non‐selective cultivation media.
