Mechanisms of Direct Electron Transfer Governed by Redox‐Active Conductive Carrier with Superior Wettability in Anaerobic Biofilms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A redox‐active conductive carrier of tannic acid‐modified iron‐biochar with superior wettability is demonstrated to regulate direct electron transfer at the anaerobic biofilm‐carrier interface by enhancing the cytochrome c‐mediated pathway. For the first time, integrated evidence from spectroscopy, electrochemical analyses, and metatranscriptomics ...

Structural insights of TCT proteins in New Zealand rabbits for climate adaptation

open access: yesDiscover Animals
Significant shifts in temperature, both up and down, pose a serious challenge for the rabbit production industry. Rabbits are considered a smart homeothermic animal model and can regulate temperature using many processes.

Plant Responses to Simultaneous Biotic and Abiotic Stress: Molecular Mechanisms

open access: yesPlants, 2014
Plants are constantly confronted to both abiotic and biotic stresses that seriously reduce their productivity. Plant responses to these stresses are complex and involve numerous physiological, molecular, and cellular adaptations.

TOGR3, a Proteasome β4 Subunit, Orchestrates Sugar Homeostasis to Trade Off Growth and Thermotolerance in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies a novel thermoregulatory mechanism in rice: TOGR3 partners with 26S proteasome subunits, including TT1, to drive thermoresponsive ubiquitin–proteasome activity, maintaining sugar homeostasis in stomatal regulation to balance growth and stress resistance.

Dead Matter, Living Machines: Repurposing Crustaceans' Abdomen Exoskeleton for Bio‐Hybrid Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Crustacean exoskeletons, repurposed from food waste, are engineered into sustainable bending actuators combining biotic structure with synthetic control. The augmented exoskeletons achieve rapid and robust motion with lightweight body and can be used as part of robotic manipulators, grippers and swimmers.

Plant cell wall integrity maintenance as an essential component of biotic stress response mechanisms

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2012
Plant cell walls provide structural support during development and represent the first line of defense against biotic and abiotic stress. In recent years evidence has accumulated that a dedicated plant cell wall integrity maintenance mechanism exists ...

Combining Electrochemical Reduction with Biosynthesis for Directed Conversion of CO2 into a Library of C3 Chemicals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the H‐type electrolytic cell, carbon dioxide is reduced to acetic acid via electro‐microbial catalysis. The simply processed acetic acid is further converted through biological fermentation into high‐value‐added products, including acrylic acid, L‐lactic acid, and β‐alanine.

A Statistical Mechanics Model to Decode Tissue Crosstalk During Graft Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We introduce a statistical mechanics framework to decode the genomic crosstalk governing plant grafting. By integrating evolutionary game theory with transcriptomics, we reconstruct idopNetworks (informative, dynamic, omnidirectional, and personalized networks) that map scion–rootstock interactions.
