Wideband ‘black silicon’ for mid-infrared applications [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Optics, 2017
In this paper, we investigate the absorption of mid-infrared light by low resistivity silicon textured via deep reactive ion etching. An analytical description of the wave propagation in black silicon texture is presented, showing agreement with the experiment and the computational analysis.

Silicon Nitride Film by Inline PECVD for Black Silicon Solar Cells

open access: yesInternational Journal of Photoenergy, 2012
The passivation process is of significant importance to produce high-efficiency black silicon solar cell due to its unique microstructure. The black silicon has been produced by plasma immersion ion implantation (PIII) process.

Optical properties and growth mechanism of rock-like structured black silicon

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2020
In this study, rock-like black silicon is prepared by using plasma enhanced hot-wire chemical vapor deposition (PE-HWCVD). The average grain sizes of polysilicon for 10-min, 20-min and 40-min growth time was about 12.4, 14.3 and 15.5 nm, respectively. As

Wafer-level integration of self-aligned high aspect ratio silicon 3D structures using the MACE method with Au, Pd, Pt, Cu, and Ir

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2020
The wafer-level integration of high aspect ratio silicon nanostructures is an essential part of the fabrication of nanodevices. Metal-assisted chemical etching (MACE) is a promising low-cost and high-volume technique for the generation of vertically ...

Tailoring Femtosecond‐Laser Processed Black Silicon for Reduced Carrier Recombination Combined with >95% Above‐Bandgap Absorption

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, 2022
The femtosecond‐pulsed laser processed black silicon (fs‐bSi) features high absorptance in a wide spectral range but suffers from high amount of laser induced damage as compared with bSi fabricated by other methods.

Macro-, Micro- and Nano-Roughness of Carbon-Based Interface with the Living Cells: Towards a Versatile Bio-Sensing Platform

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Integration of living cells with nonbiological surfaces (substrates) of sensors, scaffolds, and implants implies severe restrictions on the interface quality and properties, which broadly cover all elements of the interaction between the living and ...

Diffusion of phosphorous in black silicon [PDF]

open access: yes2018 IEEE 7th World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion (WCPEC) (A Joint Conference of 45th IEEE PVSC, 28th PVSEC & 34th EU PVSEC), 2018
Black silicon is a promising texturing method for solar cells since it suppresses optical reflection in a broad spectral range. This relaxes the usual antireflection requirements on the coatings used for surface passivation of silicon. Fabrication of n-type emitters requires diffusion of phosphorous through the nanostructures of black silicon, which ...

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Fabrication of Micro- and Nanopillars from Pyrolytic Carbon and Tetrahedral Amorphous Carbon

open access: yesMicromachines, 2019
Pattern formation of pyrolyzed carbon (PyC) and tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C) thin films were investigated at micro- and nanoscale. Micro- and nanopillars were fabricated from both materials, and their biocompatibility was studied with cell ...
