Startup Method and Strategy for Bipolar LCC-HVDC System Used as Black-Start Power Source

open access: yesZhongguo dianli
The scientific and reasonable black-start scheme is the most effective measure to cope with the power grid blackout, which can greatly accelerate the system recovery process, thus significantly reducing the losses of power system due to power failure ...

Introduction to branes and M-theory for relativists and cosmologists

open access: yes, 2002
We review the recent developments in superstrings. We start with a brief summary of various consistent superstring theories and discuss T-duality which necessarily leads to the presence of D-branes.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Black-Start Coordinated Control Strategy of Optical Storage Microgrid Considering State of Charge Balance of Distributed Energy Storage

open access: yesShanghai Jiaotong Daxue xuebao
With the increasing proportion of new energy in the power grid, photovoltaic microgrids equipped with large-capacity distributed energy storage have the potential to support the black start of thermal power plants.

The effect of grasses grown for seed in mixture with legumes on the incidence of weeds and soil nitrogen content [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This report was presented at the UK Organic Research 2002 Conference on behalf of the Colloquium of Organic Researchers (COR). The incidence of weeds and the content of soil nitrogen were investigated in the first year of a field trial with organic ...

Optimal Black Start Allocation for Power System Restoration

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2018
Equipment failures, operator errors, natural disasters and cyber-attacks can and have caused extended blackouts of the electric grid. Even though such events are rare, preparedness for them is critical because extended power outages endanger human lives, compromise national security, or result in economic losses of billions of dollars.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Black-start strategy of distribution network considering photovoltaic output volatility and micro-grid synergy

open access: yesDiance yu yibiao
The fluctuation of photovoltaic output will cause the restored load to outage again. It is significant to exploit the dispatching resources of micro-grid to reduce load blackout loss of distribution network black-start and resist the risk of load loss ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...
