Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected

OsMAPKKK69 Negatively Regulates Resistance to Blast and Bacterial Blight Diseases in Rice (Oryza sativa L.)

open access: yesPlants
Rice blast is one of the main diseases of rice, causing severe economic losses to agricultural production; thus, the search for blast resistance is a top priority for rice breeding.

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

Cloning of Pid2 Homolog from Oryza officinalis and Functional Analysis of Rice Blast Resistance in Transgenic Yunjing 37 Lines

open access: yesPlants
Rice blast, caused by the fungus Magnaporthe oryzae, is one of the most devastating threatening to global rice production. The narrow genetic background of modern rice cultivars exacerbates the shortage of durable resistance resources.

Evaluation of blast resistance genes Pi9 and Pi54 in rice against local isolates of Tamil Nadu

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2020
Rice production system is greatly affected by blast disease caused by Magnaporthe grisea Barr which causes significant yield reduction throughout Asia and different parts of the globe. Developing resistant varieties has been most efficient and economical

Spatial and single‐nuclei transcriptomics reveals idiosyncratic and generic patterns in papillary and anaplastic thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Matched spatial transcriptomics and single‐nuclei RNA‐seq were generated for anaplastic and BRAFV600E papillary thyroid cancers revealing generic and tumor‐specific states occurring in cancer cells and in the tumor microenvironment. In this context, cancer dedifferentiation mirrored organoid maturation through ordered thyroid marker gain/loss ...

Pharmacological chromatin remodeling enhances response to estrogen therapy in ER+ breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Estrogen therapy elicits clinical benefit in ~ 30% of patients with endocrine‐resistant estrogen receptor (ER)‐positive breast cancer. Based on findings that ER transcriptional activation underlies response to estrogen therapy, we tested the effects of epigenetic dysregulation via pharmacological inhibition of histone deacetylases (HDACi).

Somatostatin receptor 4 (SSTR4) is a tumor suppressor in cutaneous and head & neck squamous cell carcinomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies somatostatin receptor 4 (Sstr4) as a critical tumor suppressor against skin and head/neck cancers (HNSCC, cSCC, and BCC). The loss of Sstr4 removes a check on cell growth, causing hyperactivation of the MAPK‐ERK signaling pathway (↑).

Identifying gene expression signatures for risk stratification of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy in colorectal cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A novel signature integrating genome‐wide analysis with clinical factors predicts recurrence in stage II colorectal cancer and enables a new risk stratification to guide postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. Clinical risk stratification for postoperative recurrence in patients with pathological stage II (pStage II) colorectal cancer (CRC) is essential ...

Detection of Rice Leaf SPAD and Blast Disease Using Integrated Aerial and Ground Multiscale Canopy Reflectance Spectroscopy

open access: yesAgriculture
Rice blast disease is one of the major diseases affecting rice plant, significantly impacting both yield and quality. Current detecting methods for rice blast disease mainly rely on manual surveys in the field and laboratory tests, which are inefficient,
