What Is Black Male Studies?: An Introduction to the Concepts Motivating This Theory of Racialized Maleness and Anti‐Black Misandry

open access: yesPhilosophy Compass, Volume 21, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT Black Male Studies has emerged as a new field of study that aims to correct contemporary theories of Black men and boys and provide a new conceptual grounding for future research into the sexual vulnerability of racialized male populations within Western patriarchal societies. This article introduces key concepts of Black Male Studies, as well

Exploring the genetic diversity of the IPK Medicago germplasm collection using GBS

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 345-358, March 2026.
Genotyping‐by‐sequencing of 1234 accessions from the Medicago collection of the Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK) revealed broad genetic diversity across 40 species, providing one of the first genus‐wide insights into relationships between both cultivated and wild species of Medicago.

Multiple Key Hosts and Network Structure Shape Viral Prevalence Across Multispecies Communities of Bees

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 29, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study develops a quantitative framework that integrates field data, epidemiological models, simulations, and Bayesian inference to identify key viral hosts in multispecies bee communities. By estimating species‐specific R0 values from flower‐visitor networks and viral screening, we show that honeybees, as well as other wild bees, can drive the ...

Microbial nitrogen removal and recycling in the redox transition zone of a meromictic lake and its coupling to sulfur cycling

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 71, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Organotrophic denitrification is an important nitrogen (N) removal process in lakes, but alternative N reduction processes such as lithotrophic sulfur (S)‐oxidizing denitrification may be greatly underappreciated. We studied the redox transition zone (RTZ) in the meromictic water column of the North Basin of Lake Lugano (Switzerland) to ...

Large methane oxidation across an oxygen gradient in Baltic Sea deep waters

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, Volume 11, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Robust estimations of methane (CH4) oxidation in marginal seas remain elusive, making CH4 budgets particularly uncertain. Here, we investigate the CH4 benthic source and bottom layer oxidation across the entire Baltic Sea using concentration and stable isotope (δ13C‐CH4) profiles along oxygen and salinity gradients.
