Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

Block-Wise Two-Dimensional Maximum Margin Criterion for Face Recognition

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
Maximum margin criterion (MMC) is a well-known method for feature extraction and dimensionality reduction. However, MMC is based on vector data and fails to exploit local characteristics of image data.

Efficient Block Approximate Matrix Multiplication

open access: yes, 2023
Randomized matrix algorithms have had significant recent impact on numerical linear algebra. One especially powerful class of methods are algorithms for approximate matrix multiplication based on sampling. Such methods typically sample individual matrix rows and columns using carefully chosen importance sampling probabilities. However, due to practical

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

Reduced order feedback control equations for linear time and frequency domain analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
An algorithm was developed which can be used to obtain the equations. In a more general context, the algorithm computes a real nonsingular similarity transformation matrix which reduces a real nonsymmetric matrix to block diagonal form, each block of ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Binary Tree Block Encoding of Classical Matrix

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Quantum Engineering
State preparation and block encoding are essential subroutines in quantum computing. The former provides basic encoding of quantum states, while the latter transforms classical data into a matrix representation within a quantum circuit.

A subset of MMR‐proficient colon cancers responds to neoadjuvant immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tan et al. reveal that a distinct subset of early‐stage pMMR colon cancers can respond to neoadjuvant immunotherapy. In the NICHE‐2 trial, responders (26%) were characterized by chromosomal instability, TP53 mutations, and proliferative cell‐cycle programs, whereas nonresponders showed metabolic and stromal reprogramming with TGF‐β‐driven ...
