Defending Leningrad (1941–1944)

open access: yesУправленческое консультирование, 2019
The article is devoted to the analysis of the activities of the NKVD extermination battalions of the Leningrad Region in the battle for Leningrad in the period from 1941 to 1944.

Coulomb blockade in superconducting quantum point contacts

open access: yes, 1998
Amplitude of the Coulomb blockade oscillations is calculated for a single-mode Josephson junction with arbitrary electron transparency $D$. It is shown that the Coulomb blockade is suppressed in ballistic junctions with $D\to 1$.

Immune Checkpoint Blockade in Cancer Therapy.

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Oncology, 2015
Immunologic checkpoint blockade with antibodies that target cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 (CTLA-4) and the programmed cell death protein 1 pathway (PD-1/PD-L1) have demonstrated promise in a variety of malignancies.

Monitoring regional blockade [PDF]

open access: yesAnaesthesia, 2017
SummaryThis review attempts to draw on the published literature to address three practical clinical questions. First, what means of testing the degree of regional blockade pre‐operatively are available, and can eventual success or failure be determined soon after injection?

Protonophore activity of short‐chain fatty acids induces their intracellular accumulation and acidification

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The protonated form of butyrate, as well as other short‐chain fatty acids (SCFAs), is membrane permeable. In acidic extracellular environments, this can lead to intracellular accumulation of SCFAs and cytosolic acidification. This phenomenon will be particularly relevant in acidic environments such as the large intestine or tumor microenvironments ...

L’espace létal, aménager pour tuer

open access: yesL'Espace Politique, 2019
This article discusses the notion of "lethal space" defined as the space "produced", designed or arranged to weaken or exterminate a human group. It is designed to exclude the battlefield and space directly subject to the action of weapons (no man's land)

Tunable phonon blockade in weakly nonlinear coupled mechanical resonators via Coulomb interaction

open access: yes, 2018
Realizing quantum mechanical behavior in micro- and nanomechanical resonators has attracted continuous research effort. One of the ways for observing quantum nature of mechanical objects is via the mechanism of phonon blockade.

Clonal replacement of tumor-specific T cells following PD-1 blockade

open access: yesNature Network Boston, 2019
Immunotherapies that block inhibitory checkpoint receptors on T cells have transformed the clinical care of patients with cancer1. However, whether the T cell response to checkpoint blockade relies on reinvigoration of pre-existing tumor-infiltrating ...

A stepwise emergence of evolution in the RNA world

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
How did biological evolution emerge from chemical reactions? This perspective proposes a gradual scenario of self‐organization among RNA molecules, where catalytic feedback on random mixtures plays the central role. Short oligomers cross‐ligate, and self‐assembly enables heritable variations. An event of template‐externalization marks the transition to
