Quantitative Analysis of Axonal Branch Dynamics in the Developing Nervous System.

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2016
Branching is an important mechanism by which axons navigate to their targets during neural development. For instance, in the developing zebrafish retinotectal system, selective branching plays a critical role during both initial pathfinding and ...

Exact recovery in the Ising blockmodel [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
We consider the problem associated to recovering the block structure of an Ising model given independent observations on the binary hypercube. This new model, called the Ising blockmodel, is a perturbation of the mean field approximation of the Ising model known as the Curie-Weiss model: the sites are partitioned into two blocks of equal size and the ...

Estimation of cluster functionals for regularly varying time series: sliding blocks estimators [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Cluster indices describe extremal behaviour of stationary time series. We consider their sliding blocks estimators. Using a modern theory of multivariate, regularly varying time series, we obtain central limit theorems under conditions that can be easily verified for a large class of models.

R 2 STATISTICS FOR MIXED MODELS

open access: yes, 2005
The R statistic, when used in a regression or ANOVA context, is appealing because it summarizes how well the model explains the data in an easy-tounderstand way. R statistics are also useful to gauge the effect of changing a model.

A Sliding Blocks Estimator for the Extremal Index [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
In extreme value statistics for stationary sequences, blocks estimators are usually constructed by using disjoint blocks because exceedances over high thresholds of different blocks can be assumed asymptotically independent. In this paper we focus on the estimation of the extremal index which measures the degree of clustering of extremes.

The Effect of CO2 Concentration on the Frequency of Blocking in a General Circulation Model Coupled to a Simple Mixed Layer Ocean Model

open access: yes, 1986
The effect of a doubling of atmospheric CO2 on the characteristics of the 500 mb height field and persistent height anomalies associated with blocking phenomena are investigated in two experiments with the NCAR Community Climate Model (CCM) coupled to a ...

Histochemical Changes Liver and Kidney of Mice Exposed to Mercury and Recovery with Nanogold

open access: yesMolekul, 2016
The background of this research is the circulation cosmetic with mercury that occur today in society. The problem of the research is that occur histochemical’s damage liver and kidney after exposure to mercury, and is that nanogold can recovery that ...

Inference for heavy tailed stationary time series based on sliding blocks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
The block maxima method in extreme value theory consists of fitting an extreme value distribution to a sample of block maxima extracted from a time series. Traditionally, the maxima are taken over disjoint blocks of observations. Alternatively, the blocks can be chosen to slide through the observation period, yielding a larger number of overlapping ...
