Reaction-diffusion waves of blood coagulation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
One of the main characteristics of blood coagulation is the speed of clot growth. This parameter strongly depends on the speed of propagation of the thrombin concentration in blood plasma. In the current work we consider mathematical model of the coagulation cascade and study the existence, stability and speed of propagation of the reaction-diffusion ...

Role of coagulation cascade peptides in the regulation of fibroblast proliferation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Fibroblast proliferation and extracellular matrix deposition play a critical role in tissue repair and fibrosis. These functions are thought to be modulated by cytokines and growth factors, but these mechanisms are only partially understood.

Correlation of hematocrit, platelet concentration, and plasma coagulation factors with results of thromboelastometry in canine whole blood samples.

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Veterinary Research, 2012
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the components of canine whole blood samples that contribute to results of thromboelastometry (TEM). ANIMALS 127 healthy dogs. PROCEDURES For each dog, a blood sample was collected from a jugular vein into tubes containing no ...

FXa‐Responsive Hydrogels to Craft Corneal Endothelial Lamellae

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a sacrificial, multicomponent biohybrid hydrogel system enabling stable scaffold‐free tissue engineering. Its efficacy is demonstrated through the ex vivo development, detachment, and transplantation of human corneal endothelial lamellae, achieving clinically relevant sizes for Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty.

Surface-dependent Coagulation Enzymes: Flow Kinetics of Factor Xa Generation on Live Membranes [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Biological Chemistry, 276, (2001), 7827-7835, 2001
The initial surface reactions of the extrinsic coagulation pathway on live cell membranes were examined under flow conditions. Generation of fXa (activated coagulation factor X) was measured on spherical monolayers of epithelial cells with a total surface area of 41-47 cm$^{2}$ expressing TF(tissue factor) at $>25$ fmol/cm$^{2}$.

TWO NEW FACTORS IN BLOOD COAGULATION—HEPARIN AND PRO-ANTITHROMBIN

open access: yes, 1918
A survey of the results of recent work indicates that at least six different substances are concerned in one way or another in the process of blood coagulation; namely, fibrinogen, thrombin, prothrombin, calcium, antithrombin and the so-called ...

Iron‐MOFs for Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review introduces the unique properties of iron‐based metal–organic frameworks (Fe‐MOFs), the advances in synthesis and formulation, and their state‐of‐the‐art applications in biomedicine. It discusses the challenges in transitioning Fe‐MOFs from research to clinical use, emphasizing the need for eco‐friendly production methods, and a deeper ...

Development of a method for measuring blood coagulation using superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles and an alternating magnetic field [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
We developed a method for measuring blood coagulation using superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) and an alternating magnetic field (AMF). The 3rd and 5th harmonic signals from SPIONs mixed with blood induced by AMF were detected using a gradiometer coil.

Supercritical Fluid‐Processed Multifunctional Hybrid Decellularized Extracellular Matrix with Chitosan Hydrogel for Improving Photoaged Dermis Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
These findings advance tissue repair by offering a multifunctional filler that improves large‐scale volume retention, elasticity, and support for vascularized tissue growth. The decellularized extracellular matrix (dECM)‐based material provides low injection force and minimizes swelling, ensuring sustained volume. Combining CMC with supercritical fluid‐

Charging and coagulation of dust in protoplanetary plasma environments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Combining a particle-particle, particle-cluster and cluster-cluster agglomeration model with an aggregate charging model, the coagulation and charging of dust particles in various plasma environments relevant for proto-planetary disks have been investigated. The results show that charged aggregates tend to grow by adding small particles and clusters to
