TRIVALENT CHROMIUM (CR+3) IN DIETARY CARBOHYDRATE AND ITS EFFECT ON THE GROWTH OF COMMONLY CULTIVATED FISH [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Trivalent chromium (Cr+3) is an essential trace mineral for fish bio-physiological functions. Researches on Cr+3 in the form of organic compound indicated that the mineral affected the bio-activity of insulin, the blood glucose influx, and subsequently ...

Identification of novel small molecule inhibitors of ETS transcription factors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
ETS transcription factors play an essential role in tumourigenesis and are indispensable for sprouting angiogenesis, a hallmark of cancer, which fuels tumour expansion and dissemination. Thus, targeting ETS transcription factor function could represent an effective, multifaceted strategy to block tumour growth. The evolutionarily conserved E‐Twenty‐Six

Fusion of Various Optimization Based Feature Smoothing Methods for Wearable and Non-invasive Blood Glucose Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesIET Systems Biology, 2023, 17(3): 107-120
Recently, the wearable and non-invasive blood glucose estimation approach has been proposed. However, due to the unreliability of the acquisition device, the presence of the noise and the variations of the acquisition environments, the obtained features and the reference blood glucose values are highly unreliable.

Preliminary evidence supports circulating microRNAs as prognostic biomarkers for type 2 diabetes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background:Circulating microRNAs are emerging as potential prognostic biomarkers for the development of type 2 diabetes. However, microRNAs are also associated with complications from impaired glucose metabolism (e.g. endothelial cell function).

STAT3 expression is reduced in cardiac pericytes in HFpEF and its loss reduces cellular adhesion and induces pericyte senescence

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for half of the heart failure cases. It is characterised by microvascular dysfunction, associated with reduced pericyte coverage and diminished STAT3 expression in pericytes. Loss of STAT3 impairs pericyte adhesion, promotes senescence, and activates a pro‐fibrotic gene program.

Personalized Understanding of Blood Glucose Dynamics via Mobile Sensor Data [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Continuous Blood Glucose (CGM) monitors have revolutionized the ability of diabetics to manage their blood glucose, and paved the way for artificial pancreas systems. In this paper we augment CGM data with sensor input collected by a smart phone and use it to provide analytical tools for patients and clinicians.

Autophagy in cancer and protein conformational disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Autophagy plays a crucial role in numerous biological processes, including protein and organelle quality control, development, immunity, and metabolism. Hence, dysregulation or mutations in autophagy‐related genes have been implicated in a wide range of human diseases.

Impact of Diet Composition on Blood Glucose Regulation

open access: yesCritical reviews in food science and nutrition, 2016
Nutritional management of blood glucose levels is a strategic target in the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). To implement such an approach, it is essential to understand the effect of food on glycemic regulation and on the ...
