Blood parameters and biathlon performance.

The Journal of sports medicine and physical fitness, 2009
Biathlon is a sport that combines cross-country skiing with rifle shooting. There is no well-described model of performance in this multi-sport event. This study aimed to identify the parameters influencing biathlon performance. In addition, the study aimed to search for a relationship between performance and measured blood parameters and to determine ...

Electrical parameters of human blood

Proceedings of the 20th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society. Vol.20 Biomedical Engineering Towards the Year 2000 and Beyond (Cat. No.98CH36286), 2002
Blood samples taken from healthy donors are diluted with 0.9% saline, to obtain samples with hematocrit values ranging from 31 to 50. Bio-impedance spectroscopy is then performed on these samples. Complex impedance measurements in the frequency range from 100 kHz to 1 MHz were fitted into Cole-Cole diagrams, using a LMS algorithm. Data were interpreted

Oxidatively modified fibrinogen modulates blood rheological parameters

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2004
We studied the effect of UV-oxidized fibrinogen with oxidation degrees of 10 and 20% on rheological parameters of the blood. The effect of fibrinogen with 10% oxidation degree was moderate and variable, which attests to its partial compensation with the pool of natural antioxidants. The effect of fibrinogen with 20% oxidation degree was more pronounced.

BIOCHEMICAL BLOOD PARAMETERS OF IMPORTED CATTLE

Vestnik of M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University, 2022
Blood refers to the fluids of the internal environment of the body and is one of the integrating systems of the body. Various deviations in the state of the body and individual organs lead to changes in the blood system and vice versa. Blood responds to various pathological processes occurring in the body by changing the amount and constituent elements.

Coagulation Parameters After Retransfusion of Unwashed Blood

The Journal of Arthroplasty, 2006
Postoperative blood salvage reduces the risk of allogenic transfusion in patients undergoing elective total joint arthroplasty. We measured the concentrations of coagulation parameters after autotransfusion of unwashed shed blood in 22 patients having elective joint arthroplasty and compared them with patients without retransfusion. Twenty-two patients

Blood coagulation parameters in retinal arterial occlusion

Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, 1999
Thromboembolism is considered a crucial event in the pathogenesis of retinal occlusion, resulting in a severe damage of central or peripheral visual function. We evaluated hemostatic system parameters in the plasma of 14 patients (11 males and 3 females aged 59-73 years) affected by acute retinal ischemia (central retinal arterial occlusion or arterial ...

Seasonal changes in red blood cell parameters

British Journal of Haematology, 1993
Summary. Seasonal changes in blood count (haematocrit and haemoglobin values) have been described in studies of small samples. Since Israel is characterized by high summer temperatures, we attempted to determine whether there are circannual changes in blood count, and how they are influenced by mean monthly temperature. In a cross‐sectional study ...

Patient-Specific Debye Parameters for Human Blood

2019 41st Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2019
This paper develops a patient-specific model for the Debye parameters of human blood based on hemoglobin content. Blood samples were collected from 176 patients visiting the University Hospital, with both permittivity measurements and standard hematological analysis performed on each blood draw.

Routine Blood Parameters in Elite Soccer Players

International Journal of Sports Medicine, 2011
Often blood screening is repeatedly done in elite athletes although training and competition can affect its results and normal ranges for highly active individuals are widely unknown. This study was conducted to provide reference data in professional soccer players.
