Laboratory blood parameters in a group of centenarians

Archives of Gerontology and Geriatrics, 1996
Several laboratory blood parameters in a group of healthy centenarians (7 males and 15 females) living in Eastern Sicily were studied and compared with those recorded in a group of healthy elderly subjects (5 males and 12 females) from 80 to 87 years of age.

BLOOD PARAMETERS IN WILD RUMINANTS IN KENYA

Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1974
Blood specimens from shot or drug-immobilized impala (Aepyceros melampus), Thomson's gazelle (Gazella thomsonii), Grant's gazelle (Gazella granti), mountain reedbuck (Redunca fulvorupula), blue wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus), Coke's hartebeest (Alcelaphus buselaphus cokii), topi (Damaliscus korrigum), eland (Taurotragus oryx), buffalo (Syncerus ...

Thixotropic parameters of whole human blood

Thrombosis Research, 1976
Abstract The rheological property of 8 samples of whole blood from healthy adult human subjects was studied with a Weissenberg Pheogoniometer, modified with a continuously variable speed drive. Experimental data showed a hysteresis loop in the shear stress versus the shear rate plot and a torque-decay in the shear stress versus the shearing time plot

Oxygen parameters of blood: Definitions and symbols

Scandinavian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Investigation, 1990
Definitions and symbols for relevant parameters of the oxygen status of arterial blood are recommended. The recommendations are as simple as possible, easy to understand, and devoid of misinterpretations and double meanings. The authors propose no new definitions for limited new methods, no combination of symbols and methods, and no association between

Study on blood constitutive parameters in different blood constitutive equations

Journal of Biomechanics, 2000
A method is proposed to study the steady blood constitutive equation (BCE). With the method several BCEs are tested and Quemada, Bi-exponent and K-L equations are found to be well in agreement with the hemorheological characteristics of human and canine blood and these equations may be well used in hemorheology and hemodynamics.

Biochemical blood parameters in pigs

Journal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, 1992
SummaryBlood samples were drawn repeatedly from sows to detect quantitative variation in several blood parameters associated with disease resistance, performance or both. Pure Norwegian Landrace (L) sows, crosses between L and Duroc (L*D) and crosses between L and Yorkshire (L*Y) were compared.

Blood Pressure as a Parameter in Dermatologic Surgery

Archives of Dermatology, 1986
Elevated blood pressure is a major cause of perioperative bleeding and postoperative hematoma. Seventy-five patients scheduled for dermatologic surgical procedures were prospectively asked if they were aware of any personal history of hypertension.

The effects of “holding” on some blood parameters in goats

Veterinary Research Communications, 1985
One young male and five female goats aged from four months to mature full-mouthed were handled by stroking and raising the jugular vein intermittently for one minute each day for four days. A control group was kept in a similar pen out of sight of the test group for the four days and approached only when attended for pen cleaning and feeding.

Blood parameters and biathlon performance.

The Journal of sports medicine and physical fitness, 2009
Biathlon is a sport that combines cross-country skiing with rifle shooting. There is no well-described model of performance in this multi-sport event. This study aimed to identify the parameters influencing biathlon performance. In addition, the study aimed to search for a relationship between performance and measured blood parameters and to determine ...

Electrical parameters of human blood

Proceedings of the 20th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society. Vol.20 Biomedical Engineering Towards the Year 2000 and Beyond (Cat. No.98CH36286), 2002
Blood samples taken from healthy donors are diluted with 0.9% saline, to obtain samples with hematocrit values ranging from 31 to 50. Bio-impedance spectroscopy is then performed on these samples. Complex impedance measurements in the frequency range from 100 kHz to 1 MHz were fitted into Cole-Cole diagrams, using a LMS algorithm. Data were interpreted
