Electrophoretic Analysis of Blood Serum Proteins in Three Species of Water Snakes (Genus Nerodia) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Serum from three species of water snakes (Nerodia rhombifera, N. erythrogaster and N. fasciata) from one geographic region was analyzed electrophoretically on cellulose acetate, and anodic mobility and relative concentration of the fractions were ...

Reactive oxygen species induce virus-independent MAVS-oligomerization in systemic lupus erythematosus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The increased expression of genes induced by type I interferon (IFN) is characteristic of viral infections and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We showed that mitochondrial antiviral signaling (MAVS) protein, which normally forms a complex with ...

Advanced glycation end products promote the release of endothelial cell‐derived mitocytosis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Under diabetic conditions, AGEs induce mitochondrial damage in HUVECs, activating migrasome‐mediated mitocytosis. Migrasomes encapsulate damaged mitochondria and are released into the extracellular space, facilitating intercellular mitochondrial transfer.

About thiol derivatization and resolution of basic proteins in two-dimensional electrophoresis [PDF]

open access: yesProteomics 4 (03/2004) 551-61, 2006
The influence of thiol blocking on the resolution of basic proteins by two-dimensional electrophoresis was investigated. Cysteine blocking greatly increased resolution and decreased streaking, especially in the basic region of the gels. Two strategies for cysteine blocking were found to be efficient: classical alkylation with maleimide derivatives and ...

Utility of immunofixation in complementing and empowering serum protein electrophoresis in the diagnosis of paraproteinemia: Experience at a tertiary care center [PDF]

open access: yesMedical Laboratory Journal
Background: ‘M’ proteins or paraproteins refer to immunoglobulins that are produced by clonal plasma cells and are a characteristic feature of monoclonal gammopathies.

Iron‐dependent lysosomal LDL oxidation induces the expression of scavenger receptor A in human THP‐1 monocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In human monocytic cells THP‐1, a limited uptake of native—not oxidized—LDL/VLDL induced expression of scavenger receptor A and cellular adhesion. Induction was inhibited by lysosomotropic (WR‐1065) and lipophilic (BHT) antioxidants and by siRNAs against ferritinophagy.

Detection of gammopathy by serum protein electrophoresis for predicting and managing therapy of lymphoproliferative disorder in 911 recipients of liver transplants.

open access: yesBlood, 2001
Monitoring of posttransplantation lymphoproliferative disorder (LPD) is usually based on imaging, which lacks sensitivity. A prospective study in 911 consecutive recipients of liver transplants was conducted to assess the value of gammopathy monitoring ...
