Identification of Residual Blood Proteins in Ticks by Mass Spectrometry Proteomics

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2008
Mass spectrometry–based proteomics of individual ticks demonstrated persistence of mammalian host blood components, including α- and β-globin chains, histones, and mitochondrial enzymes, in Ixodes scapularis and Amblyomma americanum ticks for months ...

Targeting of PTP4A3 overexpression sensitises HGSOC cells towards chemotherapeutic drugs

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In HGSOC with normal KRAS expression, high PTP4A3 expression regulates autophagy activation. Conversely, in HGSOC with high KRAS expression, KRAS dictates autophagy control, and PTP4A3 is not required. When high PTP4A3 expression is inhibited, HGSOC cells are preferentially sensitised towards DNA‐damaging agents.

Measurement of Non-Enzymatic Glycosylated Serum Proteins (GSP) by Improved Thiobarbitoric Acid Assay

open access: yesپزشکی بالینی ابن سینا, 1999
Several classes of protein may undergo non-enzymetic addition of glucose derived product. Hemoglobin was the first protein shown to be modified. Subsequent studies have demonstrated a similar effect of glucose on lens crystalline, collagen, erythrocyte ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Biochemical blood profile and retinol levels in liver broiler chickens with the use of probiotics

open access: yesНауковий вісник Львівського національного університету ветеринарної медицини та біотехнологій імені С.З. Ґжицького: Серія Ветеринарні науки
The use of antibiotics in poultry farming creates a number of risks associated with the development of antibiotic resistance in bacterial disease pathogens. Probiotics are a promising direction for replacing traditional antimicrobial agents.

A New method for the capture of surface proteins in Plasmodium falciparum parasitized erythrocyte [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Introduction: We propose a new method for the selective labeling, isolation and electrophoretic analysis of the Plasmodium falciparum protein exposed on the erythrocyte cell surface.

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by
