Small Nucleolar RNA Snord17 Promotes Self‐Renewal of Intestinal Stem Cells through Yy2 mRNA Export and Tead4 Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Snord17, through interaction with Thoc3, promotes nuclear export and translation of Yy2 mRNA in Snord17+/+ ISCs. The Yy2 protein subsequently binds the Tead4 promoter to promote its transcription, activating Hippo signaling, which is essential for ISC maintenance.

Cloning and pattern of expression of trehalose-6-phosphate synthase cDNA from Catantops pinguis (Orthoptera: Catantopidae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2011
Trehalose is not only an important disaccharide, but also a key stress resistance factor in the development of many organisms, including plants, bacteria, fungi, and insects. To study the potential function of trehalose in development and behaviour, cDNA

Activation of MAPK signalling results in resistance to saracatinib (AZD0530) in ovarian cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
SRC tyrosine kinase is frequently overexpressed and activated in late-stage, poor prognosis ovarian tumours, and preclinical studies have supported the use of targeted SRC inhibitors in the treatment of this disease.

Dual Targeting of Tau Kinases and Autophagy by Abemaciclib Independent of CDK4/6 Inhibition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Abemaciclib rescues cognitive function and attenuates tau pathology in Alzheimer's disease models, but not through its known cancer‐fighting mechanism. This study demonstrates that abemaciclib operates independently of CDK4/6 inhibition, instead directly targeting tau kinases CaMKII and GSK3β while simultaneously promoting autophagic clearance of ...

Simple Analysis of Gel Images With IOCBIO Gel Software

open access: yesBio-Protocol
Gel image analyses are often difficult to reproduce, as the most commonly used software, the ImageJ Gels plugin, does not automatically record any steps in the analysis process.

Isolation of Polysome-bound mRNA from Rice Solid Tissues Amenable for RT-PCR and Profiling Experiments

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2015
Polysome profile analysis is a frequently performed task in translational control research that not only enables direct monitoring of the efficiency of translation but can easily be extended with a wide range of downstream applications such as Northern ...

LARP7 suppresses P-TEFb activity to inhibit breast cancer progression and metastasis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Transcriptional elongation by RNA polymerase (Pol) II is essential for gene expression during cell growth and differentiation. The positive transcription elongation factor b (P-TEFb) stimulates transcriptional elongation by phosphorylating Pol II and ...

Cancer Stem Cells Shift Metabolite Acetyl‐Coenzyme A to Abrogate the Differentiation of CD103+ T Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lei et al. demonstrate that cancer stem cells (CSCs) play a pivotal role in impairing the differentiation of CD103+ T cells in patients with non‐small‐cell lung cancer. The key mechanism involves CSC‐derived acetyl‐CoA, which disrupts CD103+ T cell differentiation by sequentially inducing acetylation and ubiquitination of the Blimp‐1 protein. Targeting

A Comparative Analysis of hsp70 mRNA and HSP70 Protein Expression in Two Distant Populations of the Baikal Amphipod Eulimnogammarus verrucosus (Gerstf., 1858) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stress Physiology & Biochemistry, 2013
Basal levels of hsp70 (mRNA) and HSP70 (protein) were measured in representatives from two distant populations of the amphipod Eulimnogammarus verrucosus (Gerstf.) endemic to Lake Baikal using quantitative PCR (qPCR) and Western blotting upon lab ...

Rapid and efficient isolation of high-quality small RNAs from recalcitrant plant species rich in polyphenols and polysaccharides.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Small RNAs, including microRNAs (miRNAs) and small interfering RNAs (siRNAs), are important regulators of plant development and gene expression. The acquisition of high-quality small RNAs is the first step in the study of its expression and function ...
