The Ecm11-Gmc2 complex promotes synaptonemal complex formation through assembly of transverse filaments in budding yeast [PDF]
During meiosis, homologous chromosomes pair at close proximity to form the synaptonemal complex (SC). This association is mediated by transverse filament proteins that hold the axes of homologous chromosomes together along their entire length. Transverse

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Quantifying cytoskeletal protein interactions with far Western blotting
The study of cytoskeletal proteins has been limited by some of their intrinsic properties, such as fixed intracellular localization and insolubility, which limit the implementation of many protein–protein interaction assays.

Active regulator of SIRT1 is required for cancer cell survival but not for SIRT1 activity [PDF]
The NAD+-dependent deacetylase SIRT1 is involved in diverse cellular processes, and has also been linked with multiple disease states. Among these, SIRT1 expression negatively correlates with cancer survival in both laboratory and clinical studies ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

A Molecular Analysis Of Prion Protein Expression In Alzheimer's Disease
In Prion Diseases, misfolding of neuronal prion protein (PrPC) to a pathogenic isomer (PrPSC) is associated with neuronal death. Previous pathological studies have demonstrated increased immunoreactivity of PrPC at Aβ plaques in Alzheimer's Disease, and ...

Adenylyl Cyclase Type 8 Overexpression Impairs Phosphorylation-Dependent Orai1 Inactivation and Promotes Migration in MDA-MB-231 Breast Cancer Cells. [PDF]
Orai1 plays a major role in store-operated Ca 2+ entry (SOCE) in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells. This channel is inactivated via different mechanisms, including protein kinase C (PKC) and protein kinase A (PKA)-dependent phosphorylation at ...

Caveolin-3 differentially orchestrates cholinergic and serotonergic constriction of murine airways [PDF]
The mechanisms of controlling airway smooth muscle (ASM) tone are of utmost clinical importance as inappropriate constriction is a hallmark in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated
