Unlocking the Potential of Nutritional Approaches and Bioactive Compounds to Modulate Oxidative Stress and Inflammation in Systemic Arterial Hypertension

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 19, 15 October 2026.
Polyphenols target oxidative stress and inflammation, improving endothelial function and reducing blood pressure in systemic arterial hypertension. Created by BioRender.com. ABSTRACT Systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) remains a leading global cause of premature death, significantly increasing the risk of cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and renal ...

Flavonoids as Modulators of Lipid Mediator Signaling: A Narrative Review on Mechanisms, Current Evidence, and Gaps in the Literature

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 20, 28 October 2026.
Flavonoid consumption may modulate phospholipase activity and COX‐, LOX‐, and CYP450‐dependent oxylipin biosynthesis, reshaping lipid mediator networks. Emerging evidence suggests these shifts may favor inflammatory resolution over propagation, with implications for metabolic, cardiovascular, and neuroinflammatory disease risk.

Proximity to wind turbines altered plant–pollinator dynamics in prairie and sagebrush ecosystems in Wyoming, USA

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 2026, Issue 10, October 2026.
Wind turbines influence several abiotic conditions in the environments they are sited in and may influence the behavior and movement of insect pollinators. It is unknown how operating turbines influence plant–pollinator interactions. To investigate if pollination dynamics could be affected by the presence of wind turbines, we recorded videos of ...

Relational knowing as method and practice

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 10, Page 3585-3600, October 2026.
Abstract This paper seeks to contribute to (re)building the capacity for embodied, place‐based relational knowing, transforming how we know and thus what we know. What is known, or sought to be known, is relations. How we know these relations is by already being in it: breathing, sensing, moving, listening, responding, affecting and being affected ...

The Cost of Self‐Sufficiency: Could New Zealand be Self‐Sufficient in Food Consumption?

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Society of New Zealand, Volume 56, Issue 5, October 2026.
Ensuring that New Zealand can sustainably meet its future food needs requires an understanding of the interaction between domestic demand trends, trade and the capacity of national production systems. Although New Zealand is a major exporter of dairy, meat, fruit and other primary products, rising food insecurity, changing dietary preferences and ...

Patterns and Drivers of Mercury Accumulation in Croplands, a Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Biogeosciences, Volume 131, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Mercury (Hg) is a potent neurotoxin that poses risks to human and environmental health, particularly in regions influenced by anthropogenic Hg emissions. Although Hg emissions have declined across North America and Europe following regulatory controls and phase‐outs, emissions remain elevated in some regions due to activities such as artisanal
