An Exploratory Cost‐Utility Analysis of Screening and Treating Immigrants in Canada for Hepatitis D

open access: yesJournal of Viral Hepatitis, Volume 33, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Hepatitis D is common among immigrants in Canada, who account for approximately 23% of the population and tend to originate from high‐endemic countries. Mortality rates are notably high among those with chronic infections, and immigrants are less likely to engage in screening and treatment services.

Epidemiological features of BLV natural infection [PDF]

open access: yesRetrovirology, 2014
Dairy farms are heavily infected with Bovine Leukemia Virus (BLV) in Argentina and many other countries, where a control strategy should be design based on the behavior of natural. We conducted a series of studies with the aim to better understand the epidemiology of BLV. Infected new born calves were present in 3 studied farms (8.3%-11%).

From Diagnosis to Durability: A Review of the European Bulevirtide Experience and Practical Learnings for CHD Management

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 46, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Hepatitis delta virus (HDV) infection causes chronic hepatitis D (CHD), the most severe form of chronic viral hepatitis with a high risk of progression to advanced liver disease. Off‐label pegylated interferon alpha was the primary treatment option in Europe prior to the introduction of bulevirtide, a first‐in‐class HDV entry inhibitor.

Protective Effects of Vaccination with Bovine Leukemia Virus (BLV) Tax DNA Against BLV Infection in Sheep

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Science, 2003
A DNA vaccination trial was performed on sheep to determine whether vaccination with bovine leukemia virus (BLV) transactivator Tax DNA is effective against BLV infection. Immunization was carried out with cationic liposomes containing the Tax-expressing plasmid DNA and subsequently all sheep were challenged with BLV.

The Mystery of Success: How Family Background Shapes Social Mobility

open access: yesReview of Income and Wealth, Volume 72, Issue 3, August 2026.
ABSTRACT This study examines social mobility and its underlying drivers in Switzerland. We use a rich administrative dataset covering nearly 700,000 individuals across 23 birth cohorts. Rather than relying on traditional parent–child associations, we quantify the overall influence of familial factors, providing a wide‐ranging indicator of social ...

The complete genomic sequence of an in vivo low replicating BLV strain

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2009
DNA was extracted from lamb lymphocytes that were infected in vivo with a BLV strain after inoculation with the peripheral blood mononuclear cells from a persistently sero-indeterminate, low viral load, BLV-infected Holstein cow (No.

Standardizing care for agitation in Alzheimer's disease, results from a randomized controlled trial of an integrated care pathway versus usual care – the StaN trial

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Adherence to treatment guidelines for agitation in dementia is suboptimal and inconsistent. We designed and evaluated an Integrated Care Pathway (ICP) for the management of agitation in dementia. METHODS This was a double‐blind randomized controlled trial at 12 inpatient units and long‐term‐care homes (LTCHs) across Canada ...

BLV-p24 expression in BLV infected cattle and detection of BLV-p24 receptors in cattle afflicted with tumorous leukosis in vivo.

open access: yesActa virologica, 1990
Noncultivated and short-term cultivated blood leukocytes of BLV-infected cattle both with and without tumorous leukosis have been investigated for BLV-p24 antigen expression and for their capacity to bind BLV-p24 antigen. In animals with persistent lymphocytosis using cell extracts of 3-6 X 10(8) non-short-term cultivated blood leukocytes, BLV-p24 ...

Computational and Experimental Development of a Novel Multi‐Epitope Vaccine Candidate Against Bovine Leukaemia Virus

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
This study designs a novel multi‐epitope vaccine against bovine leukaemia virus using immunoinformatics. The construct demonstrates high antigenicity, stability, and strong receptor binding, indicating its potential as an effective recombinant vaccine candidate for further experimental validation .

Detection of Bovine Leukemia Viruses(BLV) in Mammary Tissues of BLV Antibody-Positive Cows Affected by Subclinical Mastitis.

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Science, 1997
The mammary tissues of 6 cows with bovine leukemia virus (BLV) antibody and subclinical mastitis were investigated histopathologically, and their organ cultures were ultrastructurally observed. Numerous BLV particles, 110 to 120 nm in diameter, were seen around lymphocytes, which had infiltrated into mammary alveoli and showed blastogenesis under ...
