Carbazole Substituted BODIPYs [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2019
Difluoroboron-dipyrromethenes (BODIPYs) are highly popular fluorescent dyes with applications as NIR probes for bioimaging, fluorescent tags/sensors and as photosensitizers in cancer therapy and organic photovoltaics. This review concentrates on the synthesis and spectral properties of BODIPY dyes conjugated with carbazole heterocycle. The carbazole is

Tetrafluorobenzo-Fused BODIPY: A Platform for Regioselective Synthesis of BODIPY Dye Derivatives [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2018
A novel route for the synthesis of unsymmetrical benzo-fused BODIPYs is reported using 4,5,6,7-tetrafluoroisoindole as a precursor. The reactivity of the 3,5-dibromo tetrafluorobenzo-fused BODIPY was investigated under nucleophilic substitution and Pd(0)-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction conditions.

Ready Access to Molecular Rotors Based on Boron Dipyrromethene Dyes-Coumarin Dyads Featuring Broadband Absorption

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Herein we report on a straightforward access method for boron dipyrromethene dyes (BODIPYs)-coumarin hybrids linked through their respective 8- and 6- positions, with wide functionalization of the coumarin fragment, using salicylaldehyde as a versatile ...

Axially chiral BODIPYs

open access: yesChem. Commun., 2014
The synthesis and resolution of a class of chiral organic fluorophores, axially chiral 4,4-difluoro-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacenes (Ax*-BODIPY), is described. Ax*-BODIPYs were prepared through a modular synthesis, resolved by preparative chiral HPLC and absolute stereochemistry assigned by ECD.

BODIPY nanoparticles functionalized with lactose for cancer-targeted and fluorescence imaging-guided photodynamic therapy

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
A series of four lactose-modified BODIPY photosensitizers (PSs) with different substituents (-I, -H, -OCH3, and -NO2) in the para-phenyl moiety attached to the meso-position of the BODIPY core were synthesized; the photophysical properties and ...

Exploring BINOL-O-BODIPY-Based Dimers as Advanced Chromophoric Platforms Enabling Triplet State Population

open access: yesChemistry Proceedings, 2022
An example of a new BODIPY design with triplet state population is reported: BINOL-O-BODIPY-based dimer. This new design combines two easily accessible structural features with a demonstrated capability of populating triplet states without the need for ...

Synthesis of carbohydrate–BODIPY hybrids

open access: yesPure and Applied Chemistry, 2023
Abstract Owing to the relevance of fluorescently labeled carbohydrates in the study of biological processes, we have investigated several routes for the preparation of saccharides covalently linked to borondipyrromethene (BODIPY) fluorophores.

Regioselectively α- and β-alkynylated BODIPY dyes via gold(I)-catalyzed direct C–H functionalization and their photophysical properties

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2020
A series of α- and β-ethynyl-substituted BODIPY derivatives (3a, 4a, 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b) were synthesized by gold(I)-catalyzed direct C–H alkynylation reactions of dipyrromethane and BODIPY, respectively, with ethynylbenziodoxolone (EBX) in a regioselective ...

Micrometric segregation of fluorescent membrane lipids: relevance for endogenous lipids and biogenesis in erythrocytes[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2013
Micrometric membrane lipid segregation is controversial. We addressed this issue in attached erythrocytes and found that fluorescent boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) analogs of glycosphingolipids (GSLs) [glucosylceramide (BODIPY-GlcCer) and ...
