Masses and Magnetic moments of Triply Heavy Flavour Baryons in Hypercentral Model [PDF]

open access: yesPramana 72:679-688,2009, 2008
Triply heavy flavour baryons are studied using the hyper central description of the three-body system. The confinement potential is assumed as hyper central coulomb plus power potential with power index $p$. The ground state ($J^P={1/2}^+$ and ${3/2}^+$) masses of heavy flavour baryons are computed for different power index, $ p$ starting from 0.5 to 2.

Contributions of depression and body mass index to body image [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Psychiatric Research, 2018
Depression and body mass index (BMI) are known to be associated with body image, however, their independent or joint effects on body image in adults are largely unknown. Therefore, we studied associations of depression diagnosis, severity, and BMI with perceptual body size (PBS) and body image dissatisfaction (BID).

Addressing persistent challenges in digital image analysis of cancer tissue: resources developed from a hackathon

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Large multidimensional digital images of cancer tissue are becoming prolific, but many challenges exist to automatically extract relevant information from them using computational tools. We describe publicly available resources that have been developed jointly by expert and non‐expert computational biologists working together during a virtual hackathon

Body mass index - a physics perspective [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
Almost two centuries ago Adolphe Quetelet came up with an index to characterize man which is frequently used today to make predictions about health status. We show that this so called body mass index is directly related to the ratio between the physical quantities metabolic rate and heat loss.

Targeted metabolomics reveals novel diagnostic biomarkers for colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed targeted metabolomic profiling to identify 302 distinct metabolites present in platelet‐rich plasma (PRP), revealing aberrant metabolic profiles amongst individuals diagnosed with colorectal cancer (CRC). Compared to carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and cancer antigen 19‐9 (CA199), our metabolite panel showed improved sensitivity ...

Body mass index evaluation in hypertensive women [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira em Promoção da Saúde, 2003
Hypertension prevalence is approximately three times higher in obese people. This study analyzed the Body Mass Index (BMI) in 200 hypertensive women in follow up treatment in a public hypertension center in the city of Fortaleza-CE, Brazil.

Predicting physiological developments from human gait using smartphone sensor data [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Coronary artery disease, heart failure, angina pectoris and diabetes are among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality over the globe. Susceptibility to such disorders is compounded by changing lifestyles, poor dietary routines, aging and obesity.

Flexible Instrumental Variable Models With Bayesian Additive Regression Trees [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Methods utilizing instrumental variables have been a fundamental statistical approach to estimation in the presence of unmeasured confounding, usually occurring in non-randomized observational data common to fields such as economics and public health.

Hypertension, Body Mass Index, and their Associations with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Deli Serdang, North Sumatera [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a major public health problem world-wide. Current global estimates indicate that this condition affects 415 million people and is set to escalate to 642 million by the year 2040. Type 2 DM is a metabolic disease that

Inhibition of acyl‐CoA synthetase long‐chain isozymes decreases multiple myeloma cell proliferation and causes mitochondrial dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Triacsin C inhibition of the acyl‐CoA synthetase long chain (ACSL) family decreases multiple myeloma cell survival, proliferation, mitochondrial respiration, and membrane potential. Made with Biorender.com. Multiple myeloma (MM) is an incurable cancer of plasma cells with a 5‐year survival rate of 59%.
