Monte Carlo simulations were conducted to estimate the effective lateral resistance of multiple anchor-bolt joints with ordinary specifications of Japanese post and beam constructions. Basic lateral load-slip curves of single anchor-bolt joints required in the simulations were determined from the test results of our earlier report.

The isolation of flowering time genes from lettuce to enable the manipulation of bolting time [PDF]
The time of bolting is an important factor in lettuce production because it affects the yield and quality of the harvested crop. Bolting is promoted by higher temperatures and is an increasing problem for growers with the current trend for warmer ...

Engineering Neuronal Network Connectivity Through Precise and Scalable Electrical Modulation
This study presents a scalable all‐electrical method for precise neuronal‐circuit reconfiguration based on high‐density microelectrode arrays. By employing biologically inspired plasticity rules, targeted connectivity changes were successfully induced and quantified across diverse neuronal preparations.

Tensile resistance of bolts in threaded holes
There are many standards governing bolted connections. Bolts in threaded holes are not however fully covered by them. Current Eurocodes determine only minimum thickness of steel plates, but length and width are not governed. The current thesis will investigate several bolt and plate assemblies of various sizes to ascertain how plate shape affects ...

Pre‐Curved Everting Robots With Embedded Steering Intelligence Fabricated by CO2 Laser Welding
Design and experimental demonstration of a laser welded growing robot for anatomically guided navigation. The robot follows an aortic arch phantom entering the branchiocephalic branch through steering by design. The figure shows the physical phantom setup, CAD defined weld geometry and full robot eversion.

Experimental study on bolting effects of bolted joint rock masses considering strength of bolts
The strength of bolts is mainly affected by their diameter and materials (tensile strength). It is very important to improve the shear resistance of bolted joint rock masses. The shear tests on bolted joint are carried out. The influences of the strength
