Behaviour and design resistance of long bolts in shear

open access: yesJournal of Constructional Steel Research
The European standard EN 1993-1-8 lacks specific design provisions for bolted connections incorporating long bolts, despite their increasing use in innovative joint configurations. Long bolts are defined as structural bolts that are manufactured from circular steel, fully or partially, threaded rods instead of a steel coil and are not subjected to heat

Scaling of Planar Sodium‐Nickel Chloride Battery Cells to 90 cm2 Active Area

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2025.
Large planar Na β′′ alumina electrolytes are prepared by tape‐casting and die‐pressing. These ceramic electrolytes are used to prepare planar sodium‐nickel chloride cells with 90 cm2 active area, providing a high capacity of 7 Ah. Successful cell cycling is demonstrated at 300 °C at rates up to C/4 (20 mA cm−2) for a cumulative capacity of 3.6 Ah cm−2.

Strongly‐Anchored Ionomer‐Free Anode Catalyst Layer Fabricated via Joule Heating Achieves Efficient Electron/Mass Transfer for Acidic Water Electrolysis

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
An ionomer‐free anode catalyst layer is fabricated via rapid Joule heating, partially embedding IrO2 nanoparticles into the membrane to form a robust, anchored interface. This architecture eliminates ionomer‐induced poisoning and mass‐transport barriers, enabling efficient water‐mediated proton transport and electronic connectivity.

Load Transfer Characteristics of a Cable Bolt in DEPT

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2019
Cable bolts help surrounding rock masses of underground excavations to form internal rock structure and thus self-stabilize through effective load transfer between rock masses and cable bolts. The load transfer characteristics of cable bolt play the most

Shear behavior of bolt–grout interfaces under constant normal stiffness: Influence of grout strength and thickness

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The effects of grout strength and thickness on the shear behavior of bolt–grout interfaces (BGI) under constant normal stiffness conditions are investigated. Shear strength, failure modes, and acoustic emission characteristics are examined. The findings reveal that grout strength exerts a significantly greater influence on BGI shear strength and ...
