Behaviour and design resistance of long bolts in shear
The European standard EN 1993-1-8 lacks specific design provisions for bolted connections incorporating long bolts, despite their increasing use in innovative joint configurations. Long bolts are defined as structural bolts that are manufactured from circular steel, fully or partially, threaded rods instead of a steel coil and are not subjected to heat

The performance of a new blind-bolt for moment-resisting connections [PDF]
The paper introduces the principal findings of a testing programme carried out to assess the performance of a newly developed blind-bolt. The blind-bolt, an evolution of the Lindapter-Hollobolt, is in-tended for use when making moment-resisting connections to Rectangular Hollow Sections.

Numerical study on the resistance of thread-fixed one-side bolts: Tensile and bearing strength
In steel structures, owing to technological aspects, frequently bolting access is difficult. To overcome these issues, technological research has proposed in the last decades several blind bolt systems that allow the installation of a bolt working only ...

Research on Diaphragm Pump Fault Diagnosis Method Based on Res‐DCB‐Net
ABSTRACT Nonstationary pressure pulsation signals of diaphragm pumps contain strong background noise and coupled characteristics. This makes it challenging to extract incipient fault features and to decouple faults with similar physical mechanisms. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a spatiotemporal fault diagnosis model named Res‐DCB ...

Scaling of Planar Sodium‐Nickel Chloride Battery Cells to 90 cm2 Active Area
Large planar Na β′′ alumina electrolytes are prepared by tape‐casting and die‐pressing. These ceramic electrolytes are used to prepare planar sodium‐nickel chloride cells with 90 cm2 active area, providing a high capacity of 7 Ah. Successful cell cycling is demonstrated at 300 °C at rates up to C/4 (20 mA cm−2) for a cumulative capacity of 3.6 Ah cm−2.

Understanding exam access arrangements in practice: Challenges and opportunities
Abstract Secondary students with specific learning difficulties (SpLD) often face challenges with academic tasks, particularly with high‐stakes examinations. Exam access arrangements (EAA) are provided as reasonable adjustments to reduce disadvantage for students with SpLD.

Functional alleles of the flowering time regulator FRIGIDA in the Brassica oleracea genome [PDF]
Background Plants adopt different reproductive strategies as an adaptation to growth in a range of climates. In Arabidopsis thaliana FRIGIDA (FRI) confers a vernalization requirement and thus winter annual habit by increasing the expression of the MADS ...

IMACulate(DE3), an E. coli Strain for High Purity His‐Tagged Protein Purifications
ABSTRACT Immobilised Metal Affinity Chromatography (IMAC) is widely used to purify his‐tagged recombinant proteins from Escherichia coli. However, endogenous contaminants with histidine clusters, such as GFAT and PDH E1 proteins, are often co‐purified with the target protein.
