Bending properties and ash content of fetal cranial bone [PDF]
Abstract Forty-five specimens of fetal cranial bone ranging in estimated gestational age from 25–40 weeks were tested in three-point bending. Five specimens of a six-year-old calvarium were tested for comparative purposes. The elastic modulus of each specimen was derived from the bending stiffness and geometrical property data.

Determining the Bioavailability Percentage of Bone Ash Phosphorus Compared to Monocalcium Phosphate and Its Effect on Performance, Bone Quality and Phosphorus Digestibility in Broilers [PDF]
Introduction: Phosphorus (P) and calcium (Ca) are macro-minerals for normal growth and development. Phosphorus plays a vital role in muscle function, enzyme activity, lipid metabolism, bone mineralization, maintaining osmotic and acid-base balance ...

Evaluating different bone processing methods used in assessing mineralization in broilers
SUMMARY: The study determined the effect of bone processing method on broiler tibia ash content. First, a total of 288-day-old, Ross 308 male broilers were fed from hatch for 35 d on 1 of 6 diets differing in P level (8 pens of 6 chicks/treatment ...

Discrepancies Between Bone Ash and Toe Ash During Aflatoxicosis
Graded levels of aflatoxin (0, .625, 1.25, 2.5, 5.0, and 10.0 micrograms/g diet) were incorporated into a broiler-starter ration and fed to chicks from 1 day to 3 weeks of age. The tibias and middle toes were removed, and both bone ash and toe ash were determined.
