Correlation in the densities of augmented and existing bone in guided bone augmentation
Clinical Oral Implants Research, 2011AbstractObjectives: Our previous work used a rabbit experimental model to investigate the effectiveness of guided bone augmentation (GBA). Although a density similar to that of existing bone is required for successful bone augmentation, few studies have compared the densities of augmented and existing bone.

Biomechanics of Vertebral Bone Augmentation
Neuroimaging Clinics of North America, 2010Percutaneous vertebral augmentation is a successful means of relieving pain and reducing disability after vertebral compression fracture; however, the exact mechanism by which vertebral augmentation eliminates pain remains unproven. Most likely, pain relief is because of stabilization of microfractures.

Bone Graft Substitution and Augmentation
Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, 2015Selection of appropriate bone graft or bone graft substitute requires careful recognition of the bone healing needs of the patient's specific clinical problem and a thorough understanding of the different properties possessed by the available bone grafts and substitutes.

Augmentation of Tendon-to-Bone Healing
Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, 2014Tendon-to-bone healing is vital to the ultimate success of the various surgical procedures performed to repair injured tendons. Achieving tendon-to-bone healing that is functionally and biologically similar to native anatomy can be challenging because of the limited regeneration capacity of the tendon-bone interface.

2019
The main limitation of the free fibula flap reconstruction is bone height that is insufficient for restoring both the skeletal base and the alveolar ridge. This is especially evident when the native mandible is dentate at the unaffected site adjacent to fibula flap.

Bone augmentation with hydroxyapatite
Implant Dentistry, 1995Bone augmentation was performed for 55 implant patients (21 male, 34 female) with hydroxyapatite granules. In 38 patients the hydroxyapatite was covered with lyophilized dura mater to avoid its loss during the healing phase. Sixty-seven punch biopsies were obtained between 14 days and 7 years.

Bone formation after sinus augmentation with engineered bone
Clinical Oral Implants Research, 2006AbstractObjectives: The aim of the following investigation was to quantify the resorption rate of tissue‐engineered bone grafts in the maxillary sinus using volume measurements.Material and methods: Sinus floor augmentation using autologous bone grafts from the iliac crest (n=17, group 1) was compared with commercially produced transplants of human ...

Horizontal bone augmentation by means of guided bone regeneration
Periodontology 2000, 2014AbstractThe development of bone augmentation procedures has allowed placement of dental implants into jaw bone areas lacking an amount of bone sufficient for standard implant placement. Thus, the indications for implants have broadened to include jaw regions with bone defects and those with a bone anatomy that is unfavorable for implant anchorage.

Use of bone morphogenetic proteins for augmentation of bone regeneration
Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 2007A large body of preclinical and clinical data now documents that recombinant BMPs can be used for skeletal regeneration in humans and animals. Recombinant human BMP-2 and BMP-7 have been approved for use in human patients with long-bone fractures and nonunions and in patients undergoing lumbar fusion or various maxillofacial and dental regenerative ...
