Open reduction and intramedullary fixation through minimal incision with Ender nails in femoral fractures of children aged from 6 to 16 years

open access: yesActa Orthopaedica et Traumatologica Turcica, 2021
Objectives: We evaluated functional and radiologic results of the treatment in patients aged 6 to 16 years, who underwent indirect reduction with Ender nails through minimal incisions for troublesome femoral fractures.\nMethods: We treated femoral ...

Assessment of tibial fracture healing using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The assessment of fracture healing is largely a matter of clinical judgement, often based on observing x-rays showing the formation of bridging callus or obscuration of the fracture line and an impression of fracture stiffness obtained by manual loading.

Single‐Cell Dissection of Tumor‐Infiltrating Lymphocytes Reveals Cellular Architecture Predictive of Therapeutic Efficacy in Acral Melanoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Autologous tumor‐infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy shows promising efficacy in acral melanoma, yet determinants of durable response remain unclear. By integrating single‐cell transcriptomics and TCR sequencing, this study reveals that TIL products enriched for T follicular helper and intermediate exhausted T cells establish persistent clonal ...

Results of surgical management in patients with metastasis to the hip

open access: yesActa Orthopaedica et Traumatologica Turcica, 2021
Objectives: We evaluated surgical methods and results in patients who were treated by various internal fixation and arthroplastic methods for impending or pathological fractures around the hip joint due to symptomatic bone metastasis.\nMethods: The study

Intramedullary Flexible Nailing for Diaphyseal Fractures of Forearm Bones in Children [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ortopedia
Objectives Most of the fractures of the bones of the forearm in children are successfully treated conservatively with closed reduction and casting. The outcomes remain variable and the patients may require additional fracture manipulation or formal ...

Ultrasound‐Activated Bifunctional Piezoelectric Hydrogel Dressings Promote Infected Wound Healing via Regulating Angiogenesis and Lymphangiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed a double‐network hydrogel with piezoelectric properties, exhibiting excellent antibacterial activity and promoting fibroblast migration, angiogenesis, and lymphangiogenesis through piezoelectric stimulation, thereby accelerating the healing of infected chronic wounds.

Biointegrative fiber-reinforced implants for fixation of subchondral insufficiency with avascular necrosis: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Cartilage & Joint Preservation
Introduction: Treating avascular necrosis (AVN) of the knee can be challenging, particularly at later stages of progression. After subchondral collapse occurs, the only existing surgical treatment is arthroplasty.

Dating Death: Forensic taphonomy and the postmortem interval [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Determining the postmortem interval (PMI) remains one of the most important but challenging factors to establish in a suspicious death investigation. Unfortunately, as time passes current methods lose accuracy and only allow investigators to approximate ...

Senolytic Therapy as a Preventive Strategy for Spine Degeneration and Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cellular senescence promotes inflammation, tissue degeneration, and chronic back pain. In sparc‐null mice, early oral administration of the senolytic agents o‐vanillin and RG‐7112 reduced senescent cell burden and pro‐inflammatory SASP signaling across intervertebral discs, endplates, vertebral bone, and spinal cord.

EEPD1 Inhibition Unleashes Antitumor Immunity in Colorectal Cancer by Activating the cGAS‐STING Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In colorectal cancer, high expression of the DNA repair protein EEPD1 correlates with immune exclusion and poor prognosis. This study demonstrates that EEPD1 depletion induces genomic instability, leading to cytosolic DNA accumulation and subsequent activation of the cGAS‐STING‐type I interferon pathway. This cascade remodels the tumor microenvironment
